What is an Associate District Director – Project Management?

Central Hudson is seeking multiple Associate District Directors who may work in any of the following specialties/areas: New Business, Distributed Energy Resources (DER). Title/level is commensurate with experience.

New Business Associate District Directors are primarily responsible for project management of commercial/industrial natural gas and electric projects and building and fostering customer relationships.

DER, Associate District Directors, are responsible for fostering customer relationships and the management of DER projects and programs such as Community Distributed Generation (CDG), Remote Net Metering (RNM), Community Choice Aggregation (CCA), and the Value of Distribution Energy Resources (VDER) compensation.

What does an Associate District Director - Project Management - New Business Services do?

  • Interfaces with customers, developers, contractors, and engineers to manage projects and directs all steps necessary to see gas and electric service projects through to completion; acts as the single point of contact for projects

  • Performs marketing, sales and business case analysis to identify commercial natural gas expansion opportunities, gains approval for gas expansion projects

  • Handles relationship management of existing commercial, industrial and municipal customers

  • Resolves customer issues and/or concerns regarding service, rates, billing, etc.

  • Provides financial oversight and control in area of responsibility; adheres to public service law, operating policies, budgets, code of conduct, and legal and ethical behaviors

  • Maintains the highest levels of accountability, responsiveness and customer satisfaction

  • Responsible for supervisor on call duties, completes additional assignments, and acts on behalf of other Company supervisors as assigned

  • Assists during major electric and gas emergency events

  • Provides support for storm restoration efforts

What does an Associate District Director – Project Management - Distributed Energy Resources do?

Working individually or with a team:

  • Acts as the main point of contact with customers, developers, contractors, and engineers to manage DER project construction of large-scale DER interconnections through completion

  • Provides coordination and management of site meetings, interconnection design, system testing, and utility account setup

  • Independently resolves customer, CCA administrators, and DER generation operators matters including rates, billing, and service quality

  • Participates in calls and provides input to NYS Joint Utilities, NYS Department of Public Service, and DER companies regarding NYSDERA policy

  • Implements new DER programs and becomes a subject matter expert regarding Central Hudson electric tariffs for DER programs, electric construction standards, and National Electric Safety Code

  • Maintains the highest level of accountability, responsiveness, and customer satisfaction

  • Adheres to public service law, operating policies, code of conduct, and legal and ethical behaviors

  • Provides appropriate oversight and control in assigned area of responsibility through appropriate use of company assets and fulfillment of organizational and personal goals and objectives

  • Responsible for supervisor on call duties, acts on behalf of other Company supervisors as assigned

  • Assists during major electric and gas emergency events

  • Provides support for storm restoration efforts

What does it take to be an Associate District Director – Project Management?

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of work experience in customer service, account management, project management, construction management, electric/gas services, utility operations or a related field

  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and the ability to learn new computer software programs quickly

  • Strong organization skills and the ability to multitask while scheduling, planning and working on multiple projects simultaneously from inception through completion

  • Excellent written/verbal communication and negotiation skills and the ability to satisfy customer requests with tact and diplomacy

  • Must be customer-focused, self-motivated and possess strong decision-making and critical thinking skills

  • Must take initiative, independently solve problems and follow through on assignments

  • Strong interpersonal, presentation and decision-making skills

  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred:

  • Technical, construction, or natural gas or electric services knowledge/background

  • Experience working with commercial industrial customers

  • Experience in the electric or gas utility industry

  • Account management experience

  • Experience with DER projects and policies

  • Experience with utility rates and tariffs
