Assistant Project Manager

This position is an entry level project coordinator position. The project coordinator will be assigned projects, programs or tasks as appropriate. Typical tasks will range in volume and complexity. The position will report directly to the Project Manager.

What Do You Offer Us?

  • Assist the foremen, from a developmental standpoint, in the planning and execution of field deliverables according to plans, drawings, schedules, customer specifications and contract requirements

  • Assist the Superintendents and General Foreman in the planning and execution of projects and contracts by organizing work methods, developing schedules, overseeing the implementation of project procedures, implementing cost controls, and reporting

  • Assist in the management of financial components including identification of potential change orders and the schedule of the project as it relates to safety, and margin expectations.

  • Evaluate and provide recommendations of the flow of information from inception to delivery of items such as but not limited to, payroll, revenue recognition, subcontractor value (getting what we paid for)

  • Assist with As-built submissions

  • Assist in project set-up

  • Create and communicate the project plan: deliverables, training, process, etc.

  • Review invoices from subcontractors to confirm production and accurate accounting

  • Work with Accounts Receivable, Billing, and customer to ensure all invoices are approved

  • Forecast month and year for each project and program

  • End of month explanations for variances in financial performance vs. forecast

  • Log vendor tickets into cost tracker

  • Review designs and determine applicable units

  • Work with internal support groups (Finance & Accounting, Billing, etc.) to set up projects in accounting system

  • Develop, maintain and update project documentation.

  • Other duties as assigned by Manager

  • Develop and maintain program file system (physical and electronic)

  • Maintain customer contact to obtain project specific information.

  • Assist Project Manager in development of change order requests (as required)

  • Maintain project specific documentation and requirements as stated within project contract documents

  • Estimate costs based on provided estimating tools

  • Complete project close-out per gas company standards

  • Basic understanding of Utility Industry standards and practices

  • Ability to interpret field conditions and communicate project requirements to team

  • Ability to develop and communicate ideas regarding project cost trends

  • Additional duties as assigned

What is Required?

  • 0-2 years of experience (natural gas industry is preferred)

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not necessary

  • Quality Orientation -accurately checking processes and task of the job

  • Basic Accounting and Finance Concepts and Applications

  • Adaptability and Multitasking Capability

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (specifically, MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook)

  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and still deliver on related tasks
