Responsible for assisting with scoping, integrated schedule development and overall operations lead for forced and refueling outages.
Review and provide input on scoping for forced and refueling outages.
Review forced outage and planned outage schedules and change schedules as needed.
Leads and manages system outages during refuel outage.
Is thoroughly familiar with the conditions and limitations of the plant operating license and technical specifications, in order to ensure that these limitations are not exceeded.
Communicates technical information, concepts, and ideas verbally and in writing. Interfaces with regulatory and industry representatives on behalf of station activities.
Serves as a member of the Emergency Response Organization.
Manages operations owned outage preparation milestones, including but not limited to tagging development and operations work order planning.
Responsible for the risk assessment of outage schedules both prior to and during outages, including running of any risk software applications.
Responsible for establishing resource assignments and resource availabilities in outage schedules.
Minimum education required of the position
B.S. in Engineering or physical sciences or U.S. Navy nuclear program training and experience or Equivalent Experience. (Equivalent Experience is defined as demonstrated success at the Manager level. A degree is very strongly preferred.)
Minimum experience required of the position
10 years nuclear power plant experience in Operations, Maintenance, or Engineering. 2 years supervisory experience. 5 years supervisory experience. Experience with managing union contract employees. At least 5 years experience in the Operations Department.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
Outstanding communication, conflict management, and change management skills. Proficiency with current computer business applications. This position requires bench strength. Those employees not currently assigned to shift may be assigned to functional positions within Operations as necessary to maintain adequate bench strength.
Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position
Candidates must meet or exceed ANSI/ANS 3.1 -1978, except managers required to hold SRO license are specified in Technical Specification (TS). ANSI Section 4.2.2 Operations Manager. Senior Reactor Operator's license. 8 years of responsible power plant experience of which a minimum of three years shall be nuclear power plant experience. A maximum of two years of the remaining five years of power plant experience may be fulfilled by satisfactory completion of academic or related technical training on a one-for-one time basis.
