LOCATION: Kansas City, MO

Topeka, KS

PAY RANGE: $93,100 - $124,100

Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Job may require additional hours as required.

Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The Manager, Procurement is responsible for advancing the effectiveness of the transactional procurement function, driving consistency in the application of process and tools, and supporting category and sourcing strategies to realize cost savings and operational efficiencies. This position will be responsible for process development and leading continuous improvement of overall transactional procurement sourcing. This position will provide leadership, coaching, and development to a team of sourcing agents that are responsible for the purchase order management across all business units.

Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage a team responsible for efficient and effective purchase order processing and management by leveraging leadership, cross-functional collaboration, project management, communication, and continuous improvement skills to complete projects on time and produce successful outcomes.

  • Manage the allocation of projects to team members to provide a high level of customer service, optimize resource capacity, and to provide ongoing development opportunities.

  • Lead the development and maturation of the transactional procurement function. Identify and implement best practices, provide learning and development opportunities to advance the team’s effectiveness through standardization of processes and tools. Support category and sourcing strategies to realize cost savings and operational efficiencies.

  • Build consensus and support among key stakeholders for risk, value and process improvement opportunities associated with transactional procurement. Influence others and affect decisions with expert knowledge of the transactional procurement process in conjunction with best practices to sustain use of pre-determined sourcing and buying channels.

  • Collaborate with category and sourcing teams, suppliers, and business partners to improve supplier performance and mitigate risk to ensure the right materials/services are received at the right time, at the right place, and at the right price.

  • Serve as the Supply Chain subject matter expert in support of the development and implementation of enterprise-wide procurement initiatives where applicable.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or other business-related field is preferred.

  • A minimum of eight (8) years of progressively increasing responsibility in Supply Chain Management, Finance, Engineering, or operations is required. Relevant experience in utilities, energy, manufacturing, or construction industry is preferred.

  • Deep understanding of sourcing and tactical procurement principles and application within a center-led Supply Chain; demonstrated experience implementing, executing, and maintaining these initiatives is preferred

  • Advanced financial analytical skills, oral and written communication, interpersonal and influence skills, and experience in enhancing value through negotiations.

  • Demonstrated in-depth and strong leadership and collaboration skills with ability to build effective relationships and influence peers and key stakeholders.

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with ability to extract key themes, determine root causes, develop creative solutions, and craft concise messages.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to the given audience, present information in a clear and concise manner, apply creative approaches to engage audiences, manage change, resolve conflict, and build consensus.

  • Ability to prioritize, organize and multitask in a flexible, fast-paced and challenging environment.

Licenses, Certifications, and/or Testing:

Successful candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
