In this newly added position as a Senior Human Resources Business Partner (reporting to the area Regional Human Resources Manager), you will support the business needs in partnership with the area operational teams based in Kansas and Oklahoma, while ensuring initiatives align with corporate goals. Your expertise will be used to attract, recruit, onboard, develop, retain and motivate employees from both a hands on and strategic perspective.

  • Take total ownership of area full cycle recruiting, including the onboarding process; identify area partnership opportunities to build talent pipelines and establish NPL as an employer of choice

  • Coach employees at all levels on performance, career paths and professional development

  • Establish trust with area operational teams and help them to view HR as a resource to achieve area goals while also aligning to corporate values and policy

  • Advise managers on employee relations, performance management, disciplinary actions, termination decisions etc.

  • Conduct investigations under the guidance of corporate legal counsel

  • Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements

  • Communicate new, changing, and existing policies and procedures, and ensure understanding, compliance, and adoption

  • Occasional travel across, KS, OK and limited TX locations to ensure visibility, build relationships and understand market demands

  • Perform other duties as requested by leadership

Education, Skills, Experience Needed

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field

  • 5 years’ experience at business partner level with demonstrated ability to form trusted partnerships through an organization

  • Ability to influence through persuasion using data, logic, and example

  • Proven analytical, problem solving and long-term planning skills

  • Forward thinking to understand big picture goals and what it takes, big and small, to get there – ability to identify roadblocks and solutions

  • Comfortable in being autonomous and working in ambiguity while accomplishing goals

  • Ability to identify issues and bring processes and practices into compliance

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SuccessFactors is a plus

  • Solid understanding of union environment, contracts and principles of labor relations desirable Bilingual capabilities in English and Spanish desirable

  • Proven analytical, problem solving and long-term planning skills

Working Environment

  • Work is performed in a typical indoor office environment

  • Ability to travel approximately 25%, sometimes with little advanced notice

  • Regular visits to construction sites requiring use of personal protective equipment with exposure to adverse conditions

  • Mobility required within an office, warehouse and construction site environments

  • Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late when necessary with little or no notice

  • Must be able to read documents, use a computer, communicate verbally and in writing

  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds


  • Pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens

  • Provide valid US work authorization documents for E-Verify

  • Satisfactory results of pre-employment background check results
