Position Specific Description
Technical Specialists perform in-depth technical and economic evaluations of designs, prepare bids & specifications and engineer Protection & Control projects for all areas of protection within the power system. Technical Specialists are required to select and procure P&C equipment and materials for a variety of substation projects. Project success requires coordination with other departments and contractors to ensure equipment is installed and operational to meet established schedules and to facilitate field construction as needed. Assigned projects must be completed within authorized budget, schedule and scope. Technical Specialists will utilize safety and compliance policies/practices along with applicable QA programs to ensure projects are designed with safety and regulatory compliance in mind. After project construction is complete, Technical Specialists review and update project drawings for as-installed changes.
We’re looking for individuals who strive to achieve and maintain excellence in technical design and focus on customer needs. The workday is M-F: 7:30AM-4:15PM; overtime required. Experience with PUR, AMP, AIM, Facility Ratings Methodology and compliance is a plus.
Employees in this role make recommendations having considerable impact on engineering, design, environmental, and field operations. This position acts as a technical liaison and provides training for engineering and operational personnel within their areas of expertise. Employees in this job are responsible for one or more programs of such diversity and scope to be of importance to overall company objectives and reliability of the system. This position has full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, engineering, budgeting, specifying, executing and coordinating projects. This position plans and often times executes these projects.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Provides engineering, design, and environmental support
• Prepares reliability plans, event responses, and asset management
• Leads projects, procedures, and process development
• Performs estimating and budgeting analysis
• Provides operational support of all NextEra Energy Inc. affiliates
• Analyzes project costs and schedules
• Ensures NERC and regulatory compliance
• Ensures Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
• Provides coaching and mentoring to employees
• Reviews equipment, materials specification development, and revisions
• Ability to meet attendance and storm duty requirements
• Ability to work extended hours
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
• High School Grad / GED
• Associate's or Equivalent Experience
• Experience:3+ years
• Six Sigma Black Belt Certified
• Six Sigma Green Belt Certified
• Bachelor's Degree
• Six Sigma Master Black Belt
