Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy is currently seeking a Wind Fleet Electrical Engineer who can apply diversified knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments and fields related to wind power generation. This candidate will need to make decisions independently regarding engineering complexities and methods. This position requires the use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices in this individual’s field. Supervision and guidance related largely to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters.

Areas of responsibility will mainly focus on support and analysis, including but not limited to:

  • Circuit breakers, contactors and high current carrying cables

  • Electrical Safety Initiatives and Investigations

  • NERC Standard Validation, including MOD-026/027, MOD-032, PRC-004, PRC-019 and PRC-025

Strongly preferred to have knowledge and experience in Renewable Power Plant Power Flow modeling, including PSSE and PSLF.

Problem Solving and Project Management skills a must.

  • Troubleshooting/analysis of various current and obsolete turbine electronics and power converter hardware and software (GE, Xantrex, Converteam/GEPC, ABB, Siemens)

  • Electrical pitch control technology

  • Wind turbine generators and motors

A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering is a requirement, and registration as a licensed Professional Engineer is a Plus.

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
