Position Specific Description

Renewable fuels are critical to decarbonizing the economy, and NextEra Energy Inc., through its NextEra Energy Marketing subsidiary, is deploying significant capital and resources to build the leading renewable fuels business in North America. NextEra Energy Marketing is seeking motivated energy visionaries to join this exciting and growing business!

NextEra Energy Marketing’s leading position in North American environmental markets enables the team to place the renewable fuels and environmental attributes in the highest value market. We have over 30 operating renewable fuels assets across the U.S., and work closely with our robust physical natural gas, power, and fully staffed 24-hour desks to manage physical flows from our facilities. NextEra is an expert in low cost renewables, with in-house development capabilities and a competitive cost of capital. The Senior Structure / Origination Analyst will be asked to work cross-functionally to structure and originate both equity and offtake transactions to help accelerate the growth of the renewable fuels business for NextEra Energy Marketing.

Job Duties:

  • Communicates directly with potential customers and front-line originators to gain an understanding of customer needs in order to propose solutions, and/or negotiate deal structures and documents that meet those needs

  • Negotiates and executes complex structured transactions primarily related to renewable fuels, with a particular emphasis on new products, customers and/or regions.

  • Work closely with front-line originators and potential customers to understand their needs and develop product structures to meet them.

  • Develop the deal structure and work with different desks to develop pricing.

  • Oversee, guide, and negotiate the contract to be signed between NextEra and the counterparty and are also responsible for selling the deal internally, navigating a rigorous vetting process, to gain approval.

  • Executes the structured transaction by gaining input from several different departments such as Pricing, Legal, Credit, Accounting, Risk Management, PGD and Trading Groups.

  • Analyzes and develops different structures for the customer including risk mitigation solutions to ensure risks are appropriately managed and quantified

  • Oversees, guides, and negotiates the contract and related documents that will be signed between the Company and the counterparty

  • Prepares presentations and other internal communications for senior leadership to guide and support the internal vetting process

  • Presents deal to senior leadership, seeking approval of the proposed deal structure


  • 4+ years of experience in renewable fuels or the broader energy sector and a background in finance, M&A, and / or structuring complex commercial transactions with sophisticated counterparties.

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • MBA or Master's Degree in a related field is preferred

Job Overview

The job is responsible for supporting the Origination Team with pre and/or post technical consulting activities, including gaining an understanding of customer needs, identifying new customers, researching and analyzing public information, and applying current business strategies to help the origination Team with strategic decisions. Employees in this role the “back office” support to the “front office” to develop presentation materials for potential customers, work on market intelligence materials to support the origination group, and maintain Origination reporting needs.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Conducts conference calls with potential customers and front line originators to understand their needs

• Researches public information about potential customers and/or competitors, analyzes data, and formulates a summary and/or recommendation to present to the Origination team

• Produces origination CRM reports and performs overall CRM maintenance

• Prepares customer presentation materials

• Manages origination reporting needs to upper management

• Assists in the preparation of presentations to support approval of proposed transactions and obtain transaction approvals on a timely basis

• Coordinates efforts between several different groups within the organization such as Communications, IT, and Investor Relations

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
