Position Specific Description

State/Region: Eastern Oklahoma (position can be remote within the US)

Description: The Senior Regulatory Affairs Analyst for Eastern Oklahoma will oversee the execution of and contribute to the design and management of strategies and tactics to enhance the grassroots advocacy capabilities at the state and local level. The ideal candidate will have experience with local permitting, community engagement, and/or field representative experience. Tribal relations experience is preferred. This position will cover the territory east of Oklahoma City, OK.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Identify and execute engagement opportunities within project communities and with respective stakeholders

• Develop long term strategies to strengthen NextEra’s relationship with key state and local officials, community leaders and landowners

• Develop and maintain relationships with Tribal Nations in Eastern Oklahoma

• Assist developers in establishing key relationships throughout the region

• Coordinate and collaborate with developers, consultants and local stakeholders on how to best foster local relationships

• Maintain external relationships with customers, third parties and members of the community

• Identify sponsorship and donation opportunities along the project track, and represent NextEra at the events, if applicable

• Maintain a stakeholder map of champions, vocal champions and opponents

• Assist with attaining necessary local project permits

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

The role will report to the Senior Manager of Regulatory & Political Affairs, but will closely coordinate with NextEra Energy Transmission Development, Marketing and Communication, External Legal Counsel and third party lobbyists/consultants.


• Bachelor’s Degree or higher

• 4+ years of relevant experience


• 3+ years of energy, pipeline or transmission experience

Job Overview

Employees in this role support Florida Power and Light’s (FPL) Regulatory Affairs team and are involved in the Company’s projects and dockets that are filed with the Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC). This position collaborates with different business units and involves familiarity with a variety of regulatory concepts, practices, and procedures.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinates regulatory filings and proceedings

  • Leads and plans docket team meetings, develops project timelines, reviews petitions and testimony, manages discovery, summarizes key milestones, and attends hearings

  • Summarizes and reports on changes in complex rates regulations and any expected impacts on the Company

  • Monitors state and national regulatory proceedings and provides timely summaries to leadership

  • Masters standard concepts, practices, and procedures of the state’s regulatory proceedings

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED

  • Bachelor’s or Equivalent Experience

  • Experience: 4+ years

  • Bachelor’s - Accounting / Finance
