Position Specific Description
Florida Power & Light Company has an opportunity for an experienced communicator who is passionate about sharing our company’s terrific story with stakeholders through creative, compelling and innovative communications.
As part of the corporate communications team, this professional will develop strategies and execute communication plans to support corporate and financial objectives and priorities, particularly quarterly financial results, other financial-related matters, transactions, corporate reputation and environmental, social and governance messaging. This team member will serve as a trusted and strategic communications partner and advisor to the investor relations, finance and treasury teams, among others. This teammate will also support emergent communications needs and other business priorities, as needed.
This team member should demonstrate a strong understanding of business, financial communications, environmental, social and governance matters and corporate reputation management. An exceptional writer and editor, this team member is required to translate complex information into clear, compelling messages. The team uses AP style for all written communications. The team member should also be tech savvy and have the ability to create content across multiple communication channels and formats, including written (AP style), digital and video. The team uses a variety of technologies (Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe Experience Manager, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Acoustic/WCA email system, HTML/JAVA and more) to create and publish communications.
Other responsibilities include:
· Develops communications plans and related materials to support corporate and financial objectives and priorities, particularly quarterly financial results, other financial-related matters, transactions, corporate reputation and environmental, social and governance messaging.
· Interfaces with business unit leadership, subject matter experts and business process owners.
· Learns about the business and the initiatives and priorities of teams supported to become a trusted and knowledgeable communications partner and advisor.
· Creates and deploys content across multiple channels and formats, including written, video and digital.
· Uses content management platforms and digital communication platforms.
· Manages multiple projects with accountability and ownership to deliver superior results.
· Supports development and execution of emergent crisis communications, including storm support.
· Uses research and audience insight to develop communication plans, materials and tactics.
· Tracks performance and progress using quantifiable metrics and regularly reports results to key stakeholders.
· Collaborates with team members and others to develop projects, gather feedback and provide input.
Job Overview
With minimal guidance from a lead or a leader, employees in this role are responsible for providing excellent communication support to assigned business unit as measured by completion of required planning and execution, and client feedback. Employees in this role are responsible for using business and customer insights to support the development and implementation of communication strategies and tactics to improve customer and stakeholder perception as measured by campaign results, which may include media coverage, and brand and message awareness results. Employees in this role will be expected to provide excellent media relations support as measured by media results. This role requires a high performing individual with strong planning capabilities, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Supports development and execution of strategic communications plans, key messages, programs and campaigns to support business objectives using research/analytics. Creates visual and written content for internal and external channels (newsletters, digital and social media, video, etc.)
Supports internal business partners on communications strategy and provides executive and communications support. Serves as liaison for assigned business units and serves as project manager for campaigns and cross-functional initiatives
Drafts media statements/press releases, answers media inquiries, serves as media spokesperson, including afterhours media duty. Proactively builds relationships with the media and seeks out opportunities to tell our company story
Supports planning and cross-functional execution of events
Measures results and evaluates the effectiveness of communications and tactics to drive improvements
Supports emergency events, as assigned
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
