Position Specific Description
NextEra Energy Transmission is seeking a Senior Regulatory Reporting Accountant at the corporate headquarters in Juno Beach. In this role you will report to the Manager of Regulatory Reporting and Process Improvements and will lead in the preparation of quarterly and annual reporting to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for certain of the NextEra Energy Transmission subsidiaries.
You will add value by taking the lead role in researching, analyzing and reporting on regulatory reporting issues affecting these subsidiaries, working with business partners to help them understand their regulatory reporting requirements, making recommendations on how to automate and streamline the process, as well as taking the lead role in special projects. You can expect to work with upper level management, all areas of the business, and external auditors.
Specific duties and responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
Keep abreast of, and apply, the FERC chart of accounts, U.S. GAAP, relevant company policies, practices and procedures
Prepare the FERC Financial Statements and other relevant pages in the FERC Form 1
Prepare and review financial statements
Have a good understanding of the statement of cash flows
Review other FERC Form 1 pages submitted by the business and ensure consistency throughout the entire FERC document
Identify areas for potential process improvement and work on teams involved with redesigning and automating existing processes to ensure they are as efficient as possible
Prepare a quarterly FERC variance analysis for upper level management
Prepare a quarterly FERC vs. GAAP reconciliation for the balance sheet and income statement
Assist in the creation of new FERC filings as the company grows its regulatory business
Train and assist new team members across the business on the regulatory requirements and use of the Workiva system
Perform research, analyze and report on issues that affect the NEET subsidiaries, recommending possible solutions, and engage in follow up activities to resolve them
Develop skills to maneuver within the company’s systems to extract data needed for value-added analytics and/or problem resolution.

Maintain a process minded focused on continuous improvement
Lead and oversee special projects, as assigned
Cross training within department
Maintain and update desktop procedures

Preferred knowledge and skills include:
Knowledge of SAP, BW, BOBJ and Workiva
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
FERC accounting / reporting experience
*Note – This position will not prepare journal entries
Employees in this job take the lead role in special projects, including researching, analyzing and reporting on issues that affect the company, making recommendations for solutions, and following through to resolution.
