Position Specific Description

Cloud EWIS is a cloud-based, in-house developed, time-series database that consumes over four million tags from 600 NextEra assets and serves the data via Excel, Ignition, CEWIS Web Trender, cloud analytics tools, and various in-house applications. The system feeds data to nearly 3,500 internal and external customers including critical control, operations, and diagnostics centers such as the ROCC, FPDC, PMI and EMT.


  • Engage with product owner, software engineers, product analysts, and business partners to understand capability requirements and develop data solutions based on product backlog priorities

  • Build efficient, reliable and scalable pipelines to handle billions of data points

  • Design, build and implement monitoring and alerts for distributed applications

  • Diagnose, fix, improve, and automate complex issues across the platform to ensure maximum uptime and performance

  • Write code, document code, participate in code reviews, and mentor other engineers About You

Highly Desired Qualifications:

  • 5+ years professional experience building enterprise class distributed

  • 5+ Java Applications

  • 2+ years working with AWS cloud infrastructure levering technologies

  • 2+ such as AWS EC2, S3, Lambda, Aurora, Fargate

  • Have proven ability to keep up with a rapidly evolving technology space a problem-solver who likes a challenge equipped with excellent written and verbal communication skills

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Analyzes, designs, develops, tests, debugs, implements, maintains, integrates, customizes and enhances existing or new systems

• Applies appropriate Agile or development methodologies, system development lifecycles, tools, and technology

• Automates the handoff of code releases from development to operations (DevOps)

• Participates in the change management and service ticket management processes, including receiving, resolution monitoring and ensuring customer satisfaction

• Leads projects when needed and builds strong working understanding of the solution being delivered

• Ensures user satisfaction by providing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and timely resolution of more complex problems

• Designs, develops and tests experimental application work to test new ideas with bounded cost and time frames

• Ensures that applications processes are conducted in line with corporate social responsibility, security, compliance, environmental, and technical policies and applicable standards and legislation

• Acts as liaison with regulatory agencies, vendors, and contractors on matters relating to computer systems as required

• Defines metrics and monitors Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for systems being developed

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High School Grad / GED

• Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
