Position Specific Description
The Project Director of Development will be responsible for late stage development on a variety of mobility projects. NextEra’s mobility business is focused on accelerating the electrification of fleets by offering integrated solutions spanning charging, renewables, resiliency, vehicle conversion and fleet as a service.
In this role you would directly impact our goal of aggressively growing our mobility position. You will lead Development projects across North America from the point of project approval to commercial operations, including overseeing cross functional teams across the NextEra Energy Resources organization. You will work closely with early stage developers/origination team on understanding the project needs to ensure smooth transition into late stage development.
Beyond the requirements below, you will also be responsible for presenting your projects and updates to leadership, and providing your input and expertise on a daily basis to SMEs as the project leader of a collaborative and dynamic team. You will travel across our sites extensively, and really be given the chance to dive into the process and progression of new and existing projects. To be successful in this role the following qualities are a must:
Outstanding communication skills and attention to detail
Development experience (utility integration, land development, infrastructure development)
Additional Distributed Energy Resources / Distributed Generation experience preferred – i.e. demand response, solar, storage, CHP, fuel cells, natural gas or other onsite generation
EV / H2 / CNG vehicle industry experience preferred
Self-motivation and a strong work ethic
Willingness to travel
Employees in this role develop and execute plans for new or enhanced generation projects. This job is responsible for resource allocation, schedules, cost and technical adequacy, ensuring the project or transaction is completed in the most cost effective and competitive manner. This position manages all aspects of the business deal and ensures the project is completed on time and within budgetary constraints.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Manages all aspects of the day to day transaction process to ensure timely completion as well as a cost effective and competitive results
Leads and coordinates key functions such as financial feasibility analyses, engineering/design, project legal review, permitting activities and financial negotiations
Coordinates due diligence activities with other internal groups to ensure proper analysis and structuring of assigned projects
Acts as liaison between internal and external specialists regarding procurement, contracting, permitting and interconnection
Constructs contractual arrangements for project development
Negotiates agreements with consultants and subcontractors
Ensures compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements
Fosters external relationships with customers, third parties and members of the community
Identifies opportunities and negotiates power sales contracts
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
High School Grad /GED
Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
