Position Specific Description

Florida Power & Light Company has an opportunity for a seasoned business communicator who is passionate about crafting and sharing our company’s terrific story with stakeholders through creative, compelling and innovative communications.

As manager of financial and corporate communications, this professional will lead, execute and evaluate integrated communications strategies in support of corporate and financial communication initiatives. Primary responsibilities include developing news releases, talking points, presentations and other materials to enhance corporate reputation and communicate financial and business performance to national, financial and trade media, shareholders and investors, customers, employees and other key stakeholders. In addition, this individual will be responsible for developing communication strategies and materials in support of, but not limited to, quarterly financial results, environmental, social and governance matters, corporate reports and content, and major corporate initiatives, including mergers, acquisitions and transactions. This leader will serve as a trusted and strategic communications partner and advisor to the investor relations, finance and treasury teams, among others, as well as the company’s senior leadership. This individual will also lead emergent communications needs and other business priorities, as required.

This team member should demonstrate a strong understanding of business, financial communications, environmental, social and governance matters and corporate reputation management. An exceptional strategist, writing and editor, this team member is required to translate complex information into clear, compelling messages. This professional should also be a problem solver, collaborator and consensus builder. The team uses AP style for all written communications. The team member should also be tech savvy and have the ability to create content across multiple communication channels and formats, including written, digital and video. The team uses a variety of technologies (Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe Experience Manager, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Acoustic/WCA email system, HTML/JAVA and more) to create and publish communications.

Overall Responsibilities:

· Developing and implementing strategic communications plans and related materials to support corporate and financial objectives and priorities, particularly quarterly financial results, other financial-related matters, transactions and corporate reputation messaging.

· Manages the strategic development of environmental, social and governance messaging and reports.

· Builds strong and effective client relationships and earns the trust and confidence of senior executives.

· Develops strategic communications plans and materials in support of business objectives and initiatives using research and audience insights.

· Creates and implements a comprehensive strategy for content development across various corporate communications channels and tools.

· Manages multiple projects with accountability and ownership to deliver superior results.

· Manages work processes to ensure best-in-class performance, including cross-functional collaboration inside and outside the business unit.

· Tracks performance and progress using quantifiable metrics and regularly reports results to key stakeholders.

· Supports development and execution of emergent crisis communications, including storm support.

  • Builds strong and effective client relationships through exemplary service and frequent and transparent communications

  • Manages the development, implementation and measurement of ROI-based communication and marketing plans

  • Uses market research and other analytics to develop recommendations for clients on how to improve customer satisfaction

  • Develops, improves, standardizes and manages work processes to ensure consistent performance that meets client expectations, including cross-functional collaboration

  • Ensures disciplined budget management

  • Leads client, project and management meetings with department heads and management peers inside and outside the business unit

  • Leads cross-functional teams, both peer-level and subordinate

  • Demonstrates ability to build and lead high-performing teams as well as coach individuals to develop to their fullest potential

  • Demonstrates the ability to develop as well as follow critical business processes to ensure quality and timely execution of initiatives
