Position Specific Description
Leaders in this role oversee a team of human resources professionals responsible for HR employee relations workplace investigations and HR compliance. As the HR Operations Manager, HR Investigations and Compliance, you’ll be responsible for investigating potential compliance and or employee relations violations by conducting and leading internal investigations into complaints, legal issues and compliance violations. This job will consult with leaders across the enterprise on applicable HR programs, policies, and/or employee relations matters. The role requires a strong communicator with the ability to identify opportunities for improvement and be influential in his/her recommendations.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Oversee and lead team of HR professionals that conduct HR investigations, ensures accurate and timely responses to employee concerns and determines expedient recommendations / solutions to ensure fairness and legal compliance
Provide leadership to HR compliance including (pre-employment backgrounds, drug and alcohol testing program, NERC-CIP personal risk assessments, EEI testing and HR projects).
Partner with NEU Learning & Development team to provide developmental training and coaching on employee relations techniques, corrective action and documentation, and best practices to mitigate business and company risk while supporting manager enablement
Manage offboarding processes (exit interviews, separations) and provide regular strategic insights to the business to aid in retention and employee satisfaction
Analyze investigation data to identify trends, provide insights and make recommendations to stakeholders and cross-functional partners to develop scalable solutions, programs and policies
Research best practices for program, process, policy, and regulations and make recommendations to ensure compliance and ensure best-in-class solutions
Pro-actively audits processes, practices, systems and documentation to identify weaknesses and opportunity for improvements
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all federal, state, and local laws pertaining to employment and ensures organizational compliance. Provides guidance and counsel on their interpretation and implementation, including but not limited to EEO, ADA, FMLA, and FLSA. Consults with legal counsel as appropriate
Assists Director HR Ops with maintaining all HR-related policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with applicable Federal and state laws
Responsibilities may be expanded to include but not limited to projects and process improvement initiatives
Experience: 8+ years
Master’s or Law Degree
Professional HR Certification (PHR) Senior Professional in HR Cert (SPHR); an HR Compliance Professional Certification a plus
Strong organizational and project management skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP and ServiceNow a plus
Excellent problem-solving skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies
Experience conducting, leading, and supervising complex investigations a plus
Experience working in and/or directly with Human Resources
Strong analytical skills and experience with Microsoft Excel (Power BI a plus)

This job will consult with leaders for designated business units or plants on applicable HR programs, policies, projects, organizational changes or employee relations matters.

Bachelor’s or Equivalent Experience
