Position Specific Description

The Director of Finance IT establishes strategy, develops business plans, and oversees and directs the design, development, and implementation of financial technology solutions to meet the business needs of the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), Reporting and Accounting organizations in NextEra Energy NEE. This role provides leadership and oversight to manage performance and results across several Information Technology disciplines, especially the accounting system SAP S/4, reporting in SAP Business Warehouse/4, Business Objects and SAP Business Planning & Consolidations BPC. Accountability includes reliability, performance, security, and continuity of IT systems and supported business processes.

  • Reporting to the Executive Director of Enterprise & Corporate Applications, the Director of Finance IT is a senior leader, who oversees the technology portfolio and strategy for the CFO business organizations, including Accounting, Tax, FP&A, Florida Power & Light Finance, and NextEra Energy Resources Finance

  • Develops and implements a forward-thinking digital strategy. Provides vision, roadmap, direction, and leadership to the Finance and FP&A organization, ensuring IT alignment with business goals and delivering tangible business value

  • Fosters innovation and transformation by leveraging emerging technologies such as AI, Machine Learning, and Robotic Process Automation to optimize processes, gain efficiencies and reduce cost

  • Ensures high level of system and application performance, quality, and security in production environments, following SOX general computer controls and company policies

  • Manages third party technical and outsourcing relationships, as well as internal stakeholder communication and collaboration, to achieve project and operational objectives

  • Drives results and collaborates well with Business and IT executives at the VP and director level. Brings a consultative approach, uses expertise and relationships to inform and influence stakeholders and lead through ambiguity

  • Innovator and driver of digitization and change in a fast paced environment. Focus and priority on efficiency gains and cost reductions.

  • Develops business cases for IT investments including estimates, savings and ROI

  • Manages system upgrades, patches, releases, staying up to date with latest features and functionalities

  • Establishes and enforces compliance with relevant regulations and data privacy laws

Highly Preferred Qualifications

  • 20+ years working and operational experience in FP&A and CFO organizations

  • 15+ years of Fortune 500 consulting and large scale ERP system integration experience

  • Bachelor's or equivalent experience in Information Systems and Accounting/Finance

  • Deep business process acumen and experience in Financial Planning & Analysis, Finance and Accounting, utility rate case filings, and regulatory accounting (FERC)

  • Collaborates with business partners, VP’s and users, explains well, complex technical issues to non-technical Finance users

  • Strong leader with 15+ years supervisor and management experience, owning and executing annual budgets of $15MM+ across multiple teams and a staff of 50+, including outsourced personnel

  • 15+ years implementation experience as an IT BPC and BW Reporting Manager and solutions architect with hands-on functional/technical experience

  • Deep understanding of all levels of the finance organizations and systems including accounts receivable, accounts payable, GL, balance sheet, P&L, finance & controlling, cash management, treasury, assets retirements & obligations, fixed assets, projects, overheads, settlements, and assessments

  • Experience in Regulated Industries accounting processes and systems including Utility Property Accounting (PowerPlan), Deferred Tax and Provision (PowerPlan) Utility Financial Forecast and Public Service Commission Rate Case Filings (Utilities International Planner)

  • Strong background in technology, system integration, data architecture, application development, analytics, business intelligence and agile methods. Ability to map business processes to technology solutions

  • Deep experience in managing, enhancing, supporting and running the planning, forecasting and consolidations in SAP Business Planning & Consolidations (11.1) and BW/4HANA. Experienced in financial forecast modeling using SAP BPC embedded technology

  • Experienced implementing SAP Business Warehouse, Business Planning & Consolidations and Finance & Accounting

  • Experienced in implementing complex reporting solutions using Business Objects, Analysis for Office, HANA Calculation Views, Composite Providers, Queries using persisted data or real time calculations

  • Experience in configuring, modelling, scripting and developing in SAP Business Planning & Consolidations, SAP Business Warehouse/4 HANA, HANA stored procedures, Business Objects, SAP S/4 HANA Finance & Controlling

• Oversees the development of processes and tools to automate code releases from development to operations (DevOps)

• Establishes and drives technology roadmaps that align with current and future business needs

• Manages third party technical and outsourcing relationships to deliver project and operational support objectives

• Ensures technology processes are conducted in line with applicable standards and company policies

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
