Position Specific Description
The BESS Subject Matter Expert will be responsible for the BESS design criteria across the Distributed Generation project portfolio, and the leading expert to consult on BESS issues during design and construction. This person must have experience managing all aspects of the BESS design including knowledge of fire suppression, EMS, wire management, and equipment selection. They will need to keep up with industry standards, evaluate new technology, as well as support the estimating and origination team on preliminary pricing and bidding exercises. The BESS SME reports directly to the Director of Engineering and interacts regularly with a cross functional team. Successful candidates will be the technical expert, but also display excellent communication skills on meetings, write clear and concise messages, take a teaching approach to supporting the larger engineering team, and be equipped to represent ideas and explanations in a compelling way to leadership and customers.
Employees in this role make decisions and recommendations having significant impact on extensive engineering and related activities for the company. This position negotiates critical and controversial issues with top level engineers and officers of other organizations and companies.
