Risk Management oversees all the insurance needs for NextEra Energy, Inc., as well as assessing and analyzing risks to the organization. The group is responsible for engaging with internal business units, insurance brokers, and insurance companies. Risk Management also oversees Palms, a captive insurance company, as well as developing strategy on managing risk internally, risk transfer, and executing strategy.
The Associate Manager Structuring/Origination - Insurance will primarily be executing on transactional opportunities and strategic initiatives and required to do the following:
Develop and maintain financial models in Excel, including forecasting and valuation models
Investigate and evaluate lines of business and propose strategic product development
Work closely with the Palms finance team for incorporating strategic initiatives into the Palms forecast
Work closely with front-line origination staff and potential counterparties to understand needs and develop transactions/product structures to meet those needs
Work closely with multiple vendors and advisors, understanding and integrating their information into strategic analysis
Support strategic initiatives and goals, including acquisitions, capacity deployment and insurance origination
Research regulatory and reporting frameworks, and propose structures and solutions
Prepare presentations for management and executive leadership reports
Coordinate, review and assist in drafting transaction documents that accurately reflect deal structures and negotiate documents with counterparty
Mentor and train junior analysts in transaction and commercial skills

Employees in this role negotiate and execute complex structured transactions. This role works closely with front-line originators and potential counterparties to understand their needs and develop product structures to meet them. Individuals are responsible for developing the deal structure, oversee, guide, and negotiate the contract to be signed between NextEra and the counterparty. They are also responsible for selling the deal internally and navigating a rigorous vetting process to gain approval. This position finally executes the structured transaction by gaining input from several different departments such as Tax, Legal, Credit, Accounting, and Risk Management.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Communicates directly with potential customers and front-line originators to gain an understanding of customer needs to propose solutions, and/or negotiate deal structures and documents that meet those needs
Analyzes and develops different structures for the customer including risk mitigation solutions to ensure risks are appropriately managed and quantified
Oversees, guides, and negotiates the contract and related documents that will be signed between the Company and the counterparty opportunities
Prepares presentations and other internal communications for senior leadership to guide and support the internal vetting process
Coordinates with internal departments involved in the transaction such as Tax, Legal, Credit, Accounting and Risk Management
Presents deal to senior leadership, seeking approval of the proposed deal structure
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
