Position Specific Description
The Finance Operations, Accounts Payable Team Leader oversees the Accounts Payable functions at NextEra Energy. The ideal candidate should have a background in systems and accounting, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with management, staff, vendors, and internal business units. As well as strong understanding of SOX and system controls. Your key responsibilities will include:
•Leading accounts payable staff, including daily invoice and payment processing
•Supporting the 1099 & 1042S processes
•Demonstrating a strong understanding of GAAP and basic accounting principles
•Appropriately prioritizing incoming requests
•Participating in and ensuring the timeliness of AP-related closing activities
•Assisting in resolving invoice or payment discrepancies
•Continuously searching for ways to improve processes or reduce costs
•Exercising strong analytical skills
•Exhibiting strong management skills
Preferred Skills
•Experience and knowledge of SAP Financials
•Familiarity with Jira Application
Job Overview
This position handles overall supervision of the Accounts Payable (AP) functions for multiple company environments. Employees supervise staff who process trade, intercompany, and payroll related AP, expense accounts, and vendor set-up and maintenance.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Performs research, analytical activities, reviews, and audits
Identifies and recommends changes to processes to enhance accuracy of accounting data and/or efficiencies
Coordinates projects with staff, management, and other employees as necessary to resolve issues or implement new processes
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
High School Grad / GED
Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
Experience: 4+ years
Preferred Qualifications
- Supervisor/Management Experience: 3+ years
