Position Specific Description
NextEra Energy is seeking an Accountant I at the Juno Beach location. In this role, you will report to the Corporate Revenue Accounting Manager and focus mainly on Corporate Accounting related activities. This position will also have opportunities for involvement in the team’s process improvement initiatives.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Prepares monthly journal entries related to the regulated entities (primarily Florida Power & Light, Gulf Power, and Florida City Gas).
Prepares monthly balance sheet and income statement variance explanations
Prepares assigned account reconciliations
Partners with billing operations teams to obtain support needed for journal entries and analysis.
Supports monthly, quarterly & annual reporting and filing requirements (Securities & Exchange Commission, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Florida Public Service Commission), including facilitating internal and external audit requests as they arise
Supports special projects, including process improvement initiatives, with opportunities to lead specific projects as applicable
Prepares ad hoc analyses and reports as needed
Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Maintains a good understanding of, and applies, GAAP, SEC regulations, and company policies, practices and procedures
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, plus 2+ years accounting experience required.
CPA, CMA, MBA or Master's in Accounting is strongly preferred
The following skills/knowledge are preferred, but not required:
SAP General Ledger
Regulatory accounting knowledge

Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Prepares financial reports in a timely manner that are in compliance with GAAP and accurately reflect the financial status of the company
• Assures accounting integrity of corporate financial data through the implementation of appropriate internal controls
• Independently prepares schedules and journal entries
• Keeps abreast of and applies GAAP, SEC regulations, and relative company policies, practices and procedures
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
