With some assistance, design relay panels and relay/control arrangement plans, material lists, relay and control schematics, external connection diagrams and control wiring diagrams and some minor structural engineering. Specify, evaluate, and purchase applicable equipment. Assists in training entry level electrical engineers needed.
Plan, design, and review communication relay schemes, relay panels, control wiring, and some minor structural engineering to ensure timely completion that is consistent with company standards and applicable codes, while remaining cost effective and within budget guidelines. Prepare relay/control arrangement plans, material lists, relay and control schematics, external connection diagrams and wiring diagrams.
Assist in training entry level electrical engineers.
Specify and evaluate vendor designs and quotations to ensure compliance with specifications and company purchasing guidelines to ensure cost effectiveness over the life of equipment.
Resolve problems regarding substation design (protective relaying schemes, relay panels, and control wiring) and materials with internal and outside entities to ensure successful completion of projects within a given time frame.
Enhance the company by implementing time and cost saving methods of completing and constructing substation projects.
As required, work with and coordinate consulting engineers to ensure integrity of design, material procurement and completion of an integrated project on schedule.
Participate in teamwork by attending team meetings and contributing ideas. Utilize excellent written and communication skills to promote change.
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and 5 to 7 years of electrical substation experience.
Professional Engineer License or Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certificate preferred.
Working knowledge of AutoCad and other engineering software required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
