This position will serve as an EMS/CA Program Analyst within the Environmental Management System/Compliance Assurance Team. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Conduct internal multi-media environmental compliance audits including pre-audit investigation, coordination, walkover surveys, issue resolution, corrective action assignments, draft and final report preparation.
Continued integration of Environmental Compliance Assurance Program into Consumers Energy's Environmental Management System.
Support the Environmental Compliance Assurance Program Coordinator in the continual improvement and formal documentation of the Environmental Compliance Assurance Program including the development of process maps depicting the various program elements (audits, self-assessment, reporting and reviews).
Support the development of a risk-based internal assessment program to identify the frequency and assessment scope over multiple years.
Development and continual improvement of the audit/assessment tools using Enviance, the Company’s HSE software solution and ehsAI, our Artificial Intelligence solution. The audit/assessment tools may include checklists, environmental metrics, score cards and others.
Utilization of Enviance for environmental data trending and reporting.
Integration and management of environmental compliance requirements and associated controls and monitoring utilizing Enviance.
This position will also require a strong focus on risk management to protect the Company’s interests, employees, customers, and reputation. This position also requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. As a member of the EMS/CA Team, this representative will collaborate with Team members and management to provide reports or presentations for the Environmental Services Department and/or Senior Management.
Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering discipline, with minimum of 5 years professional experience auditing Regulatory Compliance or ISO14001 is required. Experience in the following areas is preferred:
Extensive knowledge of utility operations
Performance/Process improvement projects
Environmental Management Systems
Manage environmental projects and/or tasks in a collaborative setting with multiple disciplines. Preparing environmental and permitting documents in compliance with applicable governing statutes and implementing regulations; providing planning support in the design of major infrastructure projects; and supporting agency involvement, permitting, and public participation activities. Help support generating plant, distribution and other projects in the Company, manage large task assignments and small-scale projects, perform complex environmental analyses and studies, oversee and review work by other staff, contractors, and consultants; also interface with government agencies and the public. Take the lead in preparing NEPA/MEPA documents and permit applications working with senior environmental and project engineering staff. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Hours and Travel
This position requires the individual work 40 hours per week and depending upon individual responsibilities, variable amounts of time split between office-based and field locations.
