The Strategic Business Consultant leads and manages operational strategic initiatives by managing, supporting, and assisting all aspects of delivering operational transformation. They are instrumental in developing & executing cutting edge assignments to deliver success for Operations and Engineering departments.
The successful candidate for this position will have primary responsibility for delivering operational Strategic expertise to the organization. This will require a blending of regulatory knowledge, strong business acumen, adept financial skills, influential competency, quantitative analytical abilities to optimize the planning and performance of the teams.
Manage process to develop & monitor of the strategy for the Operations and Engineering Departments. Including the strategy update process, business plan deployment, development of organizational scorecards and creation of the business units’ operating plans.
Engage with Senior Leadership at The Company to develop and to align performance goals across the Organization and departments.
Operate with significant autonomy and latitude in meeting business objectives and enabling efficient delivery of strategic initiatives and projects.
Implement continued process improvements in the Business Plan Deployment (BPD) process and Operating Reviews.
Analyze the strategic, operating and financial impacts of business proposals and/or external regulatory / legislative proposals. Develop modeling, recommendations and associated business cases in response to these proposals.
Research and development of systems, technologies and processes that enable Engineering and Operations organization’s world class performance.
Perform benchmarking with industry peers and external company that deliver best in class results.
Responsible for the development of business cases that enable improved company results. Demonstrate partnership with IT, Financials and Operating departments for positive business outcomes.
Oversee the creation of artifacts, such as plans, metrics, team and stakeholder communications, resource requirements and schedules for successful task completion.
Monitor and report on strategic initiatives and project performance against the plan and take corrective action as required.
Manage strategic communications around programs, services, processes, performance and strategic plans.
At least 2 years of applicable experience and a Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field.
Less than a Bachelor's degree may be acceptable if accompanied by extensive Company or industry experience in positions that demonstrate required abilities and performance.

Masters or other advanced degree, ideally in an IT, Analytics or Business area
Business Analytics and Optimization
Lean/Six Sigma certification
Energy industry background that includes a working knowledge of effectively mapping technology to business challenges
Strong experience with Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
Solid understanding of finance and accounting with the ability to translate that knowledge into quantitative business and financial models.
Business Support Advisors and Consultants support the planning, business analysis, general management, budget preparations and analysis, negotiations, transactions, customer services and auditing of a wide variety of business functions and processes of specific operating and support areas throughout the Company. Duties and who this individual reports to will fluctuate between projects, departments and offices. Lead and/or assist with business analysis and support for the plans, reports, impacts, contracts, schedules, estimates, data collection, observations, and field investigations. Provide business analysis and support services with accuracy, on time and under budget. Use computer assisted applications software and equipment to prepare business analysis support documents. Understand and follow Company established standard procedures for file structure and standard procedures for projects. Become familiar with business and department and Company plans and related material for each project and be able to utilize the information appropriately. Assists in client contact and communication. Utilize effective communication skills to answer inquiries from coworkers, clients, or the public. Public involvement may include producing reports, graphics, presentations, and other visual material as well as occasional speaking or meeting with stakeholders. Attend internal and external meetings. Provide business analysis and support services in a legal and ethical manner. Regular attendance is expected.
Hours and Travel:
This position requires the individual work 40 hours per week with 90% of time spent in the office or specific field locations. This position may require the ability to travel between field locations. This position may include nights and weekend/holiday timeframes.
