We are looking for: Associate Platform Engineer ( Database Administrator)

The Associate Platform Engineer provides database & software evaluation, implementation and 1st/2nd/3rd Level technical support services to staff and customers on software systems by testing software and hardware products and maintaining associated documentation for both Field and Corporate Workers. They provide database software Life Cycle management to meet business needs. The Associate Platform Engineer troubleshoots basic infrastructure problems which can involve other groups such as server, network, application product teams and Information Security. They utilize automation to remove wasted effort and improve user experience. The Associate Platform Engineer responds and follows-up on internal and external customer support problems.

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems

  • Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

  • Familiar with Microsoft SQL Server

  • Familiar with Active Directory

  • Familiar with Computer Networking

  • Familiar with Powershell

  • Associate’s Degree in computer information systems or related field

  • Experience in Microsoft SQL server and Microsoft Azure SQL database and set up

  • Database administration experience in a high performing, high availability environment

Preferred skills:

  • Bachelors Degree

  • Experience with Mongo, Postgres

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Powershell scripting

  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library(ITIL)

In this role, you will:

  • Provides basic (1st/2nd/3rdLevel) hardware and software break-fix support to end users for tickets escalated from the Service Desk, Information Security, or other application/product support groups. Provides timely responses to client and management requests. Gives status updates on such requests on a regular basis.

  • Provides walk-in support to end users, supporting hardware and software issues. Re-image databases, and deploys new databases as needed, to application/product teams.

  • Assists end-users and IT specialists by phone and email with first, second and third-level technical support; works to resolve incidents at the Tier I/II/III level. Contributes knowledge and updated information to maintain the database SOPs and Training manuals for Tier I, II and III support.

  • Works with other groups to resolve technical problems in complex environments. Proficient with troubleshooting and resolving networking errors with DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPN, etc.

  • Analyze low complexity incident and problem tickets to identify trends to proactively resolve issues with specialized tools and automated scripts/files created as needed.

  • Provides timely responses to client and management requests. Monitors the Client Support ticket queue to ensure that tickets are addressed in a timely manner.

  • Assists with video conferencing, audio/video equipment, and meeting support.(i.e. Microsoft Teams)

  • Perform production support and administration tasks as scheduled including and not limited to imaging and patching of databases, system back-up, log backups, restores, along with software updates and data loads. Configures and maintains database configuration parameters to ensure security configurations are installed and maintained, along with proper capacity and availability requirements.

  • Assists with IT Asset Management responsibilities, which include updating and modifying asset records.

  • Other non-essential duties as assigned or may be necessary.
