Become a Safety Advisor with Southern California Edison’s (SCE) Contractor Safety team and build a better tomorrow. The primary role of this position is as a safety leader, working both independently and as part of a team. Supporting communication, successful planning, implementation, and oversight of our contracted work force to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and SCE’s Health and Safety policies and procedures while supporting the positive evolution of our safety culture. This dynamic position of office and field work, will require engagement in a variety of safety related disciplines, including but not limited to, working with, and observing vegetation line clearing, major projects, construction and maintenance of transmission and distribution systems, as well as other facilities.

Be a safety leader, promoting safe work practices, championing SCE’s vision of safety culture advancement, and influence organizational knowledge in safety and continuous improvement.
Provide safety guidance, monitor safety, and interpret policies/rules for all contractor activities.
Supporting SCE representatives to ensure implementation of SCE’s safety policies and procedures.
Collaborate with Contractors and their safety leads continuously to striving towards team alignment.
Perform engaging observations with contract crews in the field.
Participate in incident investigation procedures.
Collaborating with all SCE internal operating units.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The essentials
Seven (7) years of experience in construction-related Transmission & Distribution Electrical systems, or vegetation management experience working as a Qualified Line Clearance Tree Trimmer, or directly supporting safety efforts associated with such activities.
Three (3) years of field experience overseeing the implementation of CAL/OSHA and other governmental regulations relating to the electric utility industry, with experience in one or more the following: transmission, distribution, vegetation management, and/or civil construction methods, safe work practices and mitigation techniques.
The preferred
Bachelor’s degree in a safety-related field
Experience in leading contractor program development and implementation.
Five (5) years directly managing contractor safety programs for a major utility.
Experience in managing, overseeing, and engaging with contract workforce within the required disciplines.
Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently that are in various stages of development.
Ability to influence decisions in safety matters.
You should know
This position’s work mode is hybrid . The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.

Position will require up to 60% traveling and being out in the field throughout the service territory as needed.
