Southern California Edison’s (SCE’s) Customer Service Organizational Unit (CS) shares the responsibility to safely deliver reliable, affordable electricity to our customers. We support this effort by working to meet customer expectations. Customer Service is dedicated to operational excellence and innovative thinking through our workforce in our call center, field operations, billing and payment center, outage and demand-side management and other service offerings.

Position Overview

The Business Customer Division (BCD) of Customer Service is the primary contact for our business customers and serves as their Trusted Energy Advisor to business customers we serve in our 50,000 square miles of service territory. Through a two way flow of energy, ideas, and innovation, we strategically consult with our customers and partners to build a clean power and electrification pathway.

This position will be in the Business Outreach & Customer Solutions Segment of SCE’s Business Customer Division. The successful candidate will be educating small business customers on rates, rebates and incentives and making recommendations for technology solutions in support of SCE’s Distributed Energy Resource programs, including energy efficiency (EE), demand response (DR), and transportation electrification (TE). This position will be focusing on engagement and interactions with the Chinese business community.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Establishes and maintains external relationships with business and community organizations to promote and educate members and on SCE's programs and services

  • Communicates with small and medium business owners to consult, negotiate, and drive enrollment/participation in SCE’s programs and services by performing energy audits and providing energy saving recommendations.

  • Resolves customer care issues for business customers

  • Prepares an annual external strategic engagement plan aligned with the BCD business plan goals and objectives that support SCE’s corporate initiative of creating a clean power pathway

  • Identifies, coordinates, and schedules meetings and presentations with various organizations throughout SCE Territory with the support of internal and external stakeholders

  • Provides mass market outreach via industry associations, trade shows, community-based, ethnic-based, faith-based organizations, focusing on the Chinese business community.

  • Participates in coordination of ethnic signature events for business customers in collaboration with internal stakeholders and SCE executive management

  • Maintains timely and accurate up-to-date customer interactions, communications, and tasks to internal stakeholders, using sales management tools such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM) on a daily basis.

  • Maintain a foundational knowledge of IDSM solutions, and customer-focused tools and services by participating in continuous learning opportunities.

  • Interacts with media sources as necessary.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Economics, or a related field

  • Must be able to speak, write and give presentations in Mandarin

  • Three (3) or more years of experience with energy industry, utility rates, and regulated utility processes

  • Five (5) or more years of experience in sales/ account management or experience with business to business outreach, including community based organizations

  • Experience facilitating meetings and presentations with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels

  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and other customer information management systems

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurance and be able to drive own vehicle to customer facilities throughout SCE service territory

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with CSS, OASIS, and the SCE online application tool (OLT)

  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, and business acumen and capable of communicating with a diverse range of individuals

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively


  • Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.

  • The primary work location for this position is Irwindale, CA.

  • Position will require up to 50% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.

  • Relocation does not apply to this position.
