Program Overview:

This position is part of Southern California Edison’s (SCE) University and Campus Relations Internship Program. The Summer Internship program is a 10-12 week paid opportunity to gain hands-on experience with meaningful work, while developing your skills, and building your network. The internship has an estimated start date of May/June 2019 and an estimated end date of August/September 2019.

SCE offers these programs with the belief that learning and development are important parts of building future leaders. Interns will also have the opportunity to participate in intern mixers, executive speaker series, site tours, community volunteer events, intern project expo, and cross-company networking.

About Customer Services Organizational Unit:

Southern California Edison’s (SCE’s) Customer Service Organizational Unit (CS) shares the responsibility to safely deliver reliable, affordable electricity to our customers. We support this effort by working to meet customer expectations. The Customer Service Operations Division (CSOD) is dedicated to operational excellence and innovative thinking through our workforce in our call center, field operations, billing and payment center, outage and demand-side management and other service offerings. In CSOD, we are dedicated to safely providing services and support for over 5 million customers, including 24/7 emergency response and billing over $12 million each year. Our energetic and devoted team is committed to engaging our customers with excellence, passion, and pride.

The Project Management Team (PMT) within CSOD provides centralized project management support. The team oversees governance and execution of projects utilizing project management methodology, ensures completion of project deliverables and manages the Optimize Customer Transaction initiative. We are seeking an intern to bring in fresh and unique perspectives to help CSOD develop and enhance some of the tools and processes in the business analytics, advanced and predictive analytics space.

Typical intern responsibilities will include:

  • Building reports and dashboards for CSOD clients

  • Support the Business Intelligence team in the Customer Service Replatform (CSRP) deployment and data support.

  • Assist in visual analytics and predictive analytics for business operations

  • Conducting ad hoc data requests

  • Aligning and optimizing the way that data and information is presented to internal customers

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Must currently be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Business, Data Science, Data Analytics, Engineering, Communications or a related field at an accredited institution with a graduation date of December 2019 or later.

  • Cumulative 2.8 GPA or higher preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel (V-Look Ups, Pivot Tables, etc..) and PowerPoint.

  • Project management and data analysis skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to accurately analyze information, processes, systems, and technologies.

  • Attention to detail and the ability to build interpersonal relationships with clients, peers and management.

  • Ability to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.

  • Location: Irwindale, CA

  • Relocation will not be provided for this position.
