Job Summary
In this role the Sr. Analyst will be responsible for fostering effective relationships among TXUE/Dynegy LBM Sales, Luminant Trading, and other key departments within Vistra that contribute to the origination of renewals and acquisitions for the commercial business sector in their respective markets, such as ERCOT, PJM, and MISO. Through relationship building the Lead Analyst will become a subject matter expert on market fundamentals that influence pricing. Further, the individual will be tasked with partnering with other departments to problem solve and strategize on how best to acquire/retain business for TXUE/Dynegy LBM Sales while also mitigating risk for Vistra. This position will be influential in the mentoring and development of the team’s Structuring and Senior Analysts.
Job Description
Key Accountabilities
Working closely with TXUE/Dynegy LBM Sales to problem solve on matters that can influence a customer’s decision on selecting a retail electric provider to transact with.
Working closely with the Luminant Trade Floor to become subject matter experts on market fundamentals and behaviors that contribute to price volatility.
Challenging and educating LBM Sales and other departments on whether a better method exists in their approach to solving internal and external problems with customer transactions.
In addition to assisting sales executives, providing education and legally appropriate guidance to customers and brokers on market behaviors and product structures.
Developing and leading initiatives regarding new structured proposals for customer transactions that often extend beyond standard product structures and services.
Providing weekly market updates internally to LBM sales and externally to customers/brokers, especially when price volatility exists.
Assisting in methods to enhance unit margin and mitigate risk on retail transactions.
Develop and present Commitments Committee and Board of Director decks for senior level approval of retail and wholesale transactions.
Identifies, analyzes, and disaggregates retail transactions into the appropriate risk instruments and components to determine if errors or opportunities for improvement exist in our pricing methodologies and/or load data.
Develop and negotiate contract language for retail transactions primarily focused on product structures and market fundamentals; work closely with Operations, Legal, Credit, and RCM on the proper modifications that should be made to the negotiated contracts.
Assisting in the review of customer RFPs.
Provide training to sales executives regarding new products, system changes, regulatory/market updates, etc.
Develop competitive intelligence reporting and present findings to senior sales leadership.
Assisting Luminant Wholesale with the participation in utility default service auctions and contributing in the dialogue and formation of renewable asset opportunities.
Initiating ad hoc projects that are deemed beneficial to curing known issues within specific organizations or workstream processes.
Partnering with Senior Analyst to manage daily tasks associated with a shared group inbox that often requires team members to prioritize tasks deemed very important by Retail and Wholesale Leadership.
Developing Senior Analyst so they are in a position to fill in for Lead Analyst on critical work assignments.
Working closely with Structured Transactions Manager/Director on continued development of individual’s leadership attributes.
Education, Experience & Skill Requirements
5+ years finance, operations, or related work experience
Problem solving; critical thinking; hypothesizing
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Previous experience leading a small group regularly is beneficial
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills
Familiarity with Salesforce and Lodestar software tools are beneficial
Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Adobe are beneficial

Willingness to learn a wide range of electricity market fundamentals and apply them to daily functions in role.
Exceptional negotiating, consensus building, and conflict resolution skills.
Extensive communication and teamwork skills with both internal and external customers; having an ability to understand who your audience is and adapt appropriately with the messaging.
Ability to work effectively in a rapidly changing environment.
Able to effectively contribute to and lead process/focus work groups attempting to identify existing problems and solve for.
Medium to advanced skillset in using computer software applications such as MS Office products.
Able to solve problems guided only by general organization objectives, policies, and goals.
Strong analytical skills, including root cause analysis.
Confidence in efficiently managing individual workflow responsibilities on a daily, weekly, and quarterly basis; avoids falling behind on tasks and has a willingness to step into new challenges and assignments for the betterment of individual’s personal growth, as well as to the benefit of all Structured Transactions’ team members.
Has a desire to potentially transition into a manager/director role within the team through acceptance of current role and responsibilities, and a willingness to absorb information and apply towards daily work functions in a positive manner that is beneficial to Vistra. Further, has a willingness to develop and mentor Senior Analyst(s) for an eventual transition into their role.
