About Transmission and Distribution
Southern California Edison’s (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T & D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents via SCE’s 5 million customer accounts.
This position will provide analysis in a large volume of complex data and information on the Smart Grid infrastructure, applications, data bases, program documents, procedures, processes, archives, power grid outage information, event root cause analysis. Will also provide support for the Grid Operations Reliability Operations Center. This position will be accountable for the accuracy and integrity of data, analysis, findings, reports and recommendations. The successful candidate will compile, correlate, analyze, and provide recommendations supporting real-time operations directly contributing to the improvements in safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
Conduct Real time advanced meter analysis.
Perform 24/7 data gathering and analysis functions of the Advanced Meter events and exceptions.
Collect, correlate, and analyze advanced meter and communication system data, provide reports, findings, and recommendations based on this analysis.
Provide proactive data gathering, correlation, analysis and initiate appropriate actions utilizing the advanced meter infrastructure and SCE systems.
Provide analysis results and recommendations to Grid Ops employees and/or management for problem reporting and resolution.
Escalate performance trends and problems that cannot be solved and act as an escalation point for all real time meter and communication system events and unresolved issues that directly contribute to improvements in safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
Analyze telemetry across multiple independent systems such as Energy Management System (EMS), Distribution Management System (DMS), Outage Management System (OMS), and Network Management System (NMS) to identify issues and analyze trends.
Create process, procedures, job aids and develop presentations.
May be required to work additional hours during storm condition.
Must be able to multi task with great attention to detail.
Five or more years of experience working in an Analyst role.
Three or more years of experience with Microsoft Excel performing advanced functions such as VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables, filtering/sorting, charts and graphing.
Flexibility to adapt in a rapidly changing environment (both in terms of software use and analysis methodologies).
Analytical experience in the Electric Utility Industry with emphasis on grid operations and electric power systems.
Ability to solve problems and utilize available information to make decisions with supporting evidence.
Experience working with electric systems operations applications such as: Outage Management System (OMS), Energy Management System (EMS), Distribution Management System (DMS), and Network Management System NMS) for AMI meters.
Experience working in a Distribution Planner & Design position, Field Engineer role, or a Computer Science/Data Science role is a plus.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word and PowerPoint.

Must be able to work 12 hour rotating shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
