AES Load Forecasting Analyst, Resource Planning in Indianapolis, Indiana

Position Summary

Responsible for load forecasting (energy and peak), load research, and handling the utility revenue model to support regulatory filings and internal analysis. Individual must have strong analytic ability and excellent problem-solving skills. Experience with multivariable regression analysis to predict utility sales desired. Experience with discounted cash flow analysis, scenario analysis, and decision analysis are a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication is required.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Business, Accounting, from an accredited college/university

MBA is a plus

Two years of load forecasting experience desired

Electric utility experience

Strong technology skills and analytical skills and detailed understanding of the load forecasting process and weather normalizing electric sales

Experience with Itron load forecasting/research tools, e.g. Metrix ND

Strong ability to collaborate with team members Strong communication skills with ability to prepare and make clear and concise technical/business presentations

Critical proficiencies include: accountability, data analytics and problem solving

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops Indianapolis Power and Light and Dayton load forecasts: energy, peak and revenue forecasts

  • Maintains and updates sales and revenue forecast models and load research database

  • Tracks and explains monthly budget variances due to weather, efficiency and economics

  • Summarizes and delivers load forecasts to finance, accounting and leadership for budgets

  • Prepares load forecasts for Coordinated Resource Planning

  • Leads contracts and relationships with load forecasting vendors

  • Researches power industry trends in load forecasting and incorporates future risks and opportunities into modeling
