AES Indiana NERC Operations Compliance

Senior NERC Compliance Engineer to support AES Indiana NERC programs with Generation and T&D experience. Under limited supervision, this role is primarily responsible for carrying out individual work assignments concerning developing and implementing the expectations, strategies, objectives, initiatives, and measures of the AES Corporation’s NERC Reliability Program (NERC O&P) compliance. Applies fundamental concepts and procedures to solve complex problems in multiple areas of specialization. Provides leadership, coaching, advising, and teaching to others through day-to-day contact.

Duties :

  • Serves as the functional Leader with subject matter experts to develop and maintain written documentation of plans, programs, procedures, and other evidence necessary to comply with the requirements and measures of the NERC Reliability Standards.

  • Provide strategic support to groups regarding the financial and operational impact of NERC reliability standards.

  • Identifies NERC process improvement opportunities.

  • Advises personnel regarding NERC process changes and regulatory requirements.

  • Guides in the interpretation of NERC standard requirements from a technical perspective.

  • Implement and maintain processes, procedures, and systems describing compliance with reliability standard requirements in coordination with the site subject matter experts.

  • Build and maintain strong evidence to prove compliance.

  • Review evidence from a technical standpoint to ensure NERC compliance requirements are satisfied.

  • Coordinate in Identifying, categorizing, and maintaining an inventory of the Bulk Electric System assets/elements.

  • Participate in NERC Incident reporting and response planning.

  • Participate in NERC Corrective/Mitigation plans to ensure reliability.

  • Support management of the change process to ensure NERC-related activities are included in the MOC approval process.

  • Coordinate the preparation and submission of documentation for NERC audits.

  • Work in coordination with the NERC Compliance Team on Data Requests and audit interviews.

  • Actively engage in project planning and execution phases to ensure NERC compliance.

  • Implement Internal Controls as per the procedures and policies developed.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in electrical GO/GOP and Transmission Operations.

  • Experience with inverter-based technologies is a plus.

  • Familiarity with the MISO power market.

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
