BWSR is the Radiological, Environmental and Construction sub-contractor at the Naval Reactors Facility in Idaho Falls, ID and performs characterization and remediation of work areas to support building construction and equipment installation, system upgrades, and repairs on systems and infrastructure in radiological and non-radiological areas.
Environmental and Waste Professional - Technical Services Group - NRF-Idaho Project
Ensure all aspects of the BWSR-NRF environmental engineering and waste management programs are compliant with federal, state, and local environmental and waste regulations. Specific attributes to be considered include waste characterization, packaging, storage, and disposition; waste minimization ad pollution prevention, including compliance to RCRA, TSCA, CAA, CWA, NESHAPS, NEPA, CERCLA, and DOT regulations and applicable procedures, documentation and recordkeeping.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental engineering and waste management regulations as described below:
Prepare sampling and analysis plans in accordance with SW-846 guidelines.
Provide oversight of field sampling operations.
Interpret laboratory analytical data and characterize materials for disposal in accordance with applicable RCRA and TSCA requirements and disposal facility waste acceptance criteria.
Ensure work documents specify compliant characterization, management, packaging, and disposition of project-generated waste. This includes PCB, RCRA-hazardous, low-level radioactive, mixed low-level, asbestos, industrial waste, and universal waste.
Develop solutions to technical problems associated with environmental engineering and waste management.
Interface with the customer to ensure BWSR is meeting NRF’s environmental and waste management objectives.
Attend DOT Hazardous Material training as required by 49 CFR 172 Subpart I, DOE regulations, and Naval Reactors Program instructions.
Obtain and maintain NRF-specific environmental qualifications as assigned.
Must have a working knowledge of RCRA, TSCA, and DOT regulations pertaining to the packaging and management of hazardous, mixed, and PCB-contaminated mixed waste.
Must maintain qualification as a radiological Contamination or Radiation Worker.
Must be able to secure and maintain a DOE “L” security clearance.
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Waste Management, Environmental Sciences, or related science, engineering, or technical field. Applicable Bachelor’s degree plus two to six years of relevant experience, or applicable Master’s degree plus two years relevant experience.
Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Position requires U.S. citizenship with (no dual citizenship) ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance which involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation, drug test and previous employment reference verifications.
