Responsibilities:
Schedule and confirm all day-ahead physical, financial, and ancillary transactions in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with management and ISO requirements
Create and submit Current Operating Plans (COP) accurately communicating our resource commitments and availability with ERCOT, and coordinate these plans with Trading and Asset Management

Understand the basics of load resources and schedule them appropriately according to company contracts and market requirements
Assess and analyze fundamental market conditions and other variables to maximize efficiency of company portfolio and market interactions.
Create and implement scheduling & trade-entry tools, data sets, and information feeds to facilitate least cost scheduling, asset optimization, and bidding
Coordinate both resource and transmission outage requests, execute submittals and monitor for ISO approval
Communicate day-ahead strategies and open scheduling items to the Real-Time desk ensuring a continuation of strategy and appropriate asset management
Complete checkouts of daily and monthly trade-entries
Assist in dispute resolution processes as needed with Real Time and/or Trading when issues arise surrounding deal entry, scheduling, billing and/or settlement errors
Analyze deviations from forecasted load and generation schedules with real-time actual data
Monitor and provide analysis of ISO settlement files as needed and work with settlement group to identify and track discrepancies and issues
Provide administrative support for Asset Managers and Portfolio Directors as needed
Operate in compliance with NRG’s Risk Management Policy, and NRG’s Code of Conduct
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, business, finance, or other relevant degree or direct industry or military related experience
Qualifications:
Experience with deal capture and reporting applications
Experience in scheduling with ISO’s and bilateral counterparties
Knowledge of the characteristics of products bought or sold on electricity markets
Knowledge of the process to schedule exchanges between transmission providers
Broad knowledge of tagging methodologies and requirements
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proven attention to detail
Competence in mathematics and technical concepts
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work under timing constraints
Capable/proficient with Microsoft Suite and web based environments.
Applicable experience with any of the following markets: CAISO, ERCOT, MISO, PJM, NYISO, and/or ISONE markets and/or operations
NERC and PJM certification are a plus.
If not NERC or PJM certified, candidate must complete certification within 18 months of hire.
Candidate must complete the Day Ahead Desk qualification process prior to first unsupervised shift within 12 months of hire.
Candidates must be able to work a 12-hour shift schedule as part of a 7 days a week operation.
Candidates must be able to fulfill storm/event duty requirements that requires working during hurricane, winter storms and other possible catastrophic event conditions. Persons in this role may be required to report to the storm/event duty location(s) and perform the job functions as required. This may include extended shifts as necessary until storm or event conditions reside.
