This role will ensure accurate and timely deposits and preparation of returns for all filing jurisdictions. In addition, will participate in the completion of various regulatory requirements including Forms-941 and the annual taxation reporting cycle (W2’s, etc) and ensure complete reconciliation of the payroll system details to balance with what has been reported.

What you will do:

  • Responsible for the overall payroll tax processing function, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of all US payroll taxes, and ensuring appropriate checks / balances and reporting are completed in accordance with prescribed timelines and procedures (GAAP, SOX, etc.).

  • Monitor US Tax legislative changes and advise operations on the changes that are relevant to Enbridge payroll

  • Support Payroll Specialists in analyzing and interpreting tax laws and regulations, and applying them to USA payroll

  • Responsible for the timely deposits and filings for federal, state, and local tax liabilities for all jurisdictions.

  • Files quarterly and annual unemployment taxes.

  • Maintain and regularly review the integrity, reliability, and timeliness of payroll taxes and related information that has been input by the employee services representatives and payroll analysts, ensuring strict adherence to statutory and other company reporting requirements.

  • Completes monthly, quarterly, and annual tax reconciliations as appropriate to ensure accurate filings. May be required to perform audits more frequently depending on jurisdiction.

  • As a key collaborator, assist in year-end processing, including the production of Forms W-2.

  • Performs W-2 reconciliations and processes corrections (Form W-2 C), as required.

  • Investigates and resolves tax notices, penalties, and questionnaire requests and mandatory reporting.

  • Work with Payroll Operations and Payroll Finance to identify and resolve variances.

  • Maintains up-to-date employee records within Workday (multi-worksite, tax elections, etc.).

  • Responsible for Neocase Stewardship of T2 US Payroll Taxes.

  • Handling of escalated Tier 2 issues including interpretation, investigation, problem resolution and cataloguing and documenting to the payroll tax knowledge base (i.e., covering legislation, policies, IRS, etc.).

  • Responsible for direct support and guidance daily to the Tier 1 payroll SME’s and coach Tier 1 staff to provide ongoing knowledge transfer, as it relates to US Payroll Taxes.

  • Develop and maintain process documentation, checklists and tools that follow standard process methodologies and that align to the objectives of accuracy and timeliness of all payroll tax transactions.

  • Regularly participate in business continuity and operational planning activities

Who you are :

You have:

  • 4+ years US payroll experience working in a fast-paced and ever-shifting service environment involving covering multi-state organizational entities along with a University degree or technical diploma in a related field.

  • 3+ years working knowledge of US Payroll Tax and financial systems with strong payroll systems expertise to include effective system controls, audit and reporting routines, plus sound financial management principles and procedures

  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy with no room for error due to high-risk exposure while having a proven ability to apply strong analytical and problem solving skills with an inquiring mentality

You can:

  • Show knowledge and experience with 3rd party interfacing requirements (IRS, SSA, ADP, ACH, T-Rowe, etc)

  • Offer expertise and knowledge of complex payroll compliance and HR requirements, including international assignments (expatriates and inpatriates), tax equalization, relocation, stock options, taxable benefits, etc.

  • Manage competing priorities and demands while working within tight time constraints for processing payrolls, meeting reporting deadlines to ensure payroll obligations are met and providing reporting information promptly to both internal and external partners

You are:

  • An excellent written and verbal communicator with strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community

  • Able to identify and assist with operational implementation of industry and payroll-related standard methodologies

  • Knowledgeable of interdependent HR administrative requirements (legislation), human resources concepts, practices, systems and procedures

The following are considered assets:

  • CPP Designation (Certified Payroll Professional)

  • A solid understanding of Workday

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
