Center Point Energy is looking for a Gas Operations Leader to join our Gas Operations TX District , located in Houston, TX (Navigation office) .

You will have the ability to: plan, schedule, assign and oversee field operations activities including construction, maintenance, service and operations (corrosion, leak survey, odorization and measurement) of the gas distribution system and provides customer service. Performs necessary field planning and monitoring/inspection of the installation and maintenance

of natural gas facilities

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Receive and schedule corrosion maintenance work orders. Determine priorities and coordinates the work with other departments and/or contractors to assure that prompt resolution of leak survey and corrosion issues are in accordance with company specifications and safety rules.

  • Schedule, assign and verify that Corrosion maintenance plans are in compliance.

  • Assign employees to test mains and services in accordance with operating standards and federal/state regulations.

  • Inspect work completed by Company crews or contractors' crews to confirm that the work was done in accordance with operating standards and federal/state regulations.

  • Assure that gas carrying facilities (such as main, services, meter stations, etc) meets the company’s standards for quality and specifications.

  • Reviews daily work order assignments for balance and proper utilization of employees.

  • Communicates tasks and plans to the crew either through tail-gate sessions or individually to ensure that each crew member is informed of expectations.

  • Trains and coaches employees on sound service and/or construction methods and work practices.

  • Coaches employees and communicates with customers and dealers when responding to concerns about difficult service problems and customer complaints.

  • Maintains controlled materials and issues adequate supply of work materials.

  • Investigates work place accidents, vehicular accidents, on-the-job injuries and instances involving general public liability and/or property damage.

  • Compiles data, keeps current documentation and prepares periodic surveys and reports, cost estimates and

  • updates plant facilities records.

  • Assures proper odorization in system and conducts odorometer tests periodically and after a fire or explosion.

Your background includes:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Work outside in all types of weather conditions

  • Requires a minimum of six (6) years of experience in the construction, maintenance and service of natural gas distribution systems.

A bonus to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Previous leadership experience
