Job Summary

The program manager will be expected to lead, develop, manage, and improve assigned programs, including the serious injury and fatality (SIF) prevention program. Participates in collaborative activities to optimize safety performance with a focus on Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) prevention, Human and Organizational Performance Principles (HOP), and Learning Teams.

Essential Functions

  • Lead the development and implementation of safety programs aligned with industry standards and regulatory requirements; with a focus on Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) prevention, include Human and Organizational Performance Principles (HOP), and Learning Teams.

  • Liaise with and support business unit safety and operational leadership to lead and influence continuous improvement.

  • Develop SIF prevention policies and guidance materials for enterprise safety related programs.

  • Establish and maintain training materials; including human and organizational performance, learning teams, and high-energy sources.

  • Develop the governance standards for controls assessments and field verifications.

  • Conduct field visits seeking to validate and assess the health of assigned programs.

  • Conduct annual reviews to ensure safety-related & training programs are up to date.

  • Develops safety-related content for inclusion into daily communications, meetings and bulletins.

  • Implement and support the high-energy controls assessment process; continuously improve and maintain dashboards, scorecards and files related to the SIF prevention process.

Essential Functions Continued

  • Leads departmental technology projects. Develops sustainable, scalable, and quantifiable business process improvements. Collects and analyzes data to initiate, develop and recommend business practices to enhance program performance and operational excellence.

  • Lead and/or participate in internal and external special project teams; to include providing safety department representation for enterprise-level operating systems improvements, digital transformation, and safety systems functional testing.

  • Oversee the alignment and utilization of change management processes to support the strategic and tactical integration of HOP principles concepts, tools and techniques across the organization.

  • Engage, develop, and maintain relationships with external partners, organizations, and memberships.

  • Facilitate learning teams for serious injuries and tracks preventative actions as needed.

  • Present on topics related to the program to various groups.

Education Description

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Psychology, Engineering, Business, or related technical field.

Experience

  • Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of prior work experience in Safety, with at least five (5) years of proven work experience in serious injury prevention, agile project management, continuous improvement, analytical and problem-solving skills, effective time management to achieve critical deadlines, and the ability to apply advanced knowledge of human and organizational performance (HOP) philosophies.

  • ASP/CSP/SMS/PMP or equivalent certification preferred.
