Center Point Energy is looking for an Associate Electrical Engineer to join our System Protection & MUG Engineering Team , located in Houston, TX .

You will have the ability to: Provide engineering and technical support services associated with the design, construction, and operation of CenterPoint Energy's overhead & underground distribution system.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Review and analyze customer submitted site plans, structural drawings, electric one-lines, schematics, and load analysis.

  • Design overhead and underground facilities for electric service.

  • Prepare cost estimates and Terms & Conditions packages for electric service to customers.

  • Inspect customer required construction to approve/disapprove.

  • Prepare work orders, easement documents, agreement letters and operational agreements.

  • Perform cable pull analysis, protective device coordination studies, motor start and fault current calculations.

  • Interpret and apply applicable codes and standards (i.e. National Electric Safety Code, National Electric Code, etc.).

  • Support the construction, operations, and maintenance of the distribution system through communication with field personnel and customers.

  • Gather and analyze data, perform engineering studies, prepare written reports, give oral presentations related to distribution systems.

  • Prepare new or revise engineering/technical specifications.

  • Manage multiple projects involving customers, contractors, and internal departments.

Your background includes:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.

  • No work experience is required.

A bonus to have:

  • 0-2 years Engineering Experience (Internship included)
