Job Summary
Provides advanced technical support, training, and instructions to the Electric Operations Distribution organization. Designs, develops, and manages core automated programs and systems used by distribution operations. Responsible for analysis of core data to ensure accuracy of historical records. Seeks areas of opportunity to improve efficiency and effectiveness of Electric Operations. Aids in identifying and developing KPI’s for various departments across Electric Operations.
Essential Functions
Readand interpret technical specifications and system issues.
Ability to interpret new system requests and changes with skills to communicate enhancements in a training environment and to program developers.
Supports the management and staff of various internal customers on automated programs and systems.
Performs or assists with acceptance testing. Performs root-cause analysis of hardware and software problems, identifies causes and recommends solutions.
Participates in internal and external department projects.
Manages priorities and/or deadlines and smaller projects.
Provide trainings to internal customers on various systems and processes.
Support applications used by Distribution Controllers and Distribution Operations personnel.
Maintain integrity of electrical mapping system in PSE.
Ability to develop ad hoc reports as assigned using Business Objects, SQL, and analyzing data in Excel, potentially developing in a Power BI/Tableau Dashboard
Required to support rotating 24/7 duty schedule and respond to call outs as needed.
Education Description
- Requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a Business-related field from an accredited college or university. In lieu of a degree, a related technical discipline combined with a minimum of 2 years of work experience will be considered.
Experience
Require 2 years of electrical distribution field or office experience
Preferred experience with SAP, Tableau, GIS, electrical network, Python, and SQL queries
Working Conditions
Able to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high-volume workload and frequent short deadlines that may require more than a 40-hour work week to meet established deadlines, including working nights and/or weekends as required.
Able to work a varied schedule to complete projects and meet deadlines in response to changing demands.
Able to travel to attend meetings and/or training occasionally, with possible overnight travel required.
Able to perform work successfully in an open office environment.
Able to support and participate in the Emergency Operating Plan (EOP). Will be required to remain in the service area during emergency events and perform assigned responsibilities to aide in the company’s restoration efforts.
Currently, no permanent work from home options. Flexible schedules available.
Physical Requirements
Able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Able to demonstrate the manual dexterity to operate a personal computer effectively.
Able to view a monitor or laptop screen for extended periods of time.
Able to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time.
Able to reach, grasp and move items.
Able to operate office machines, including telephone, cell phone, photocopier, scanner, and fax machine.
Able to support rotating (24/7) duty schedule.
Able to respond to call outs as needed.
Able to attend meetings at various CenterPoint Energy locations.
Able to communicate orally in a clear manner and hear spoken communication in person or on equipment, such as the telephone or mobile phone.
Able to speak, read and understand the English language.
Able to see and distinguish between colors.
Able to work a varied schedule with projects and deadlines requiring the ability to meet changing demands and multi-task.
