CenterPoint Energy is looking for a Analyst, GIS QA to join our CEHE Data Management Team , located in Houston, TX .

You will have the ability to: monitor and manage issues for data maintained within the Geographic Information Services Department (GIS). Serves as a consultant to business stakeholders to create regional standards and training content.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Maintain a high level of data quality through rigorous data analysis and auditing of all data used in GIS.

  • Interpret historical and current installation records such as work orders, sketches, and print tickets.

  • Produce comprehensive reports on data analysis to inform business decisions and prioritize information system needs.

  • Adhere to GIS department policies, procedures, and standards when performing tasks to ensure controls are in place and departmental goals are met.

  • Research issues and identify steps to resolve with minimal supervision.

  • Work with internal clients and vendors to solve gaps and issues in data quality and standards. Includes proposing new standards, presenting recommendation to governance committee, and implementing the change through the Management of Change process.

  • Prioritize and track issues through to resolution. Verify results and communicate status to stakeholders.

  • Use tools such as ArcMap, Power BI, SQL, and Excel to analyze data and identify issues using both pre-defined ad-hoc approaches. Present findings to stakeholders for resolution.

  • Create and maintain documentation of internal QC processes and standards.

  • Create and deliver training content for digitizers and vendors on new processes and on common non-conformities to reduce digitizer errors with minimal supervision.

  • Participate in the continuous improvement of data quality and related areas.

  • Provide oversight and feedback on work completed by contract digitizers

  • Perform attribute and geometric network editing of our electric and gas facilities data as needed.

  • Coach and train staff under supervision on best practices related to GIS systems and processes.

Your background includes:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree, a gis/drafting certificate, or an equivalent level of experience.

  • Requires 3-5 years of GIS experience with an understanding of design methods for construction drawings, diagrams, and facility mapping.
