What you will do:

  • Responsible for reviewing work of advisors and analysts by time constraints

  • May perform certain non-routine and/or complex assignments

  • Independently perform all assignments with little to no supervision

  • Proficient understanding of a broad range of accounting principles and/or specialized knowledge in one area

  • Provide formal coaching and direction to Analysts and Advisors

  • Scope is leader and coordinator of the work of one component of the larger team and leading projects or initiatives that impact the larger team and other departments

  • Primary representative of the component team in meetings with other corporate or business departments for special projects and business initiatives or to discuss sophisticated accounting matters

  • Perform assigned routine and complex non-routine monthly tasks and assist others as needed.

  • Review and process customer requests, ask questions and collaborate with teammates to support our partners

  • Lead projects or initiatives that impact the larger team and other departments

  • Review and provide real time feedback on tasks performed by peers and analysts in the team

  • Proactively monitor our systems, processes, and our customers to identify triggers that require our actions or partner responses.

  • Provide periodic as well as ad hoc / ongoing training to collaborators on our processes, policies, and systems

  • Take advantage of leadership opportunities to spread the Capital Assets message across the organization.

  • Reliable and accountable for job and team performance, taking the lead on issues management

  • Ensures all team assignments are of high quality and completed in an accurate and timely manner

  • Coaches and trains team on the business reasons and/or the “why” behind assignments and conclusions reached

  • Understands the interrelated effects of work on other areas or processes within other departments and the business

  • Performs review of the work of others to ensure balances agree to supporting documentation, schedules and formulas are mathematically accurate, variances are properly documented, and judgments are sound and properly supported

  • Appropriately assigns tasks and responsibilities to team members based on roles and skills possessed

  • Establish relationships and communicate effectively with leaders within the team and within other departments or external parties, as appropriate for assignments

  • Work effectively with other components or outside departments to achieve goals

  • Makes recommendations for continuous improvement in accounting and business processes and procedures

  • Review and verification of the work of component team members, including clearly explaining review notes to recipient

  • Training/cross-training of component team members

  • Proactively keeps managers informed of day-to-day progress, work plan status and significant issues encountered

  • Exercise professional skepticism in methodology and purpose of assignments as well as in analysis performed during assignments (Why are we doing this? Who are the customers? What are we trying to achieve? Are we using the best processes available?)

  • Exhibits strong project management skills and ability to deliver results

  • Provides fair and honest performance feedback to component team members on a real-time basis as well as during formal feedback reviews

  • Develop work programs that includes resource requirements, achievement dates, results, and metrics for status reporting, using the decision effectiveness framework

  • Participate in developing recommendations or solutions around critical initiatives and ensure the team’s views and concerns are represented accurately and completely on complex business issues

  • Gain a solid understanding of the Capitalization Policy, Capital Classifications and knowledge of Intangibles, leases, capitalized interest, project allocations and Contributions In Aid of Construction (CIAC) requirements, as well as a broad understanding of accounting concepts having an effect on other departments to complete tasks and advise and guide partners. Research and write research papers.

  • Values other points of view and respects diversity. Provide mentoring to peers and analysts as warranted.

  • Accountable as a process owner or sub-process owner for internal control activities. Understands the SOX controls impacting tasks and ensuring that controls are in place and being followed.

  • Promoting a continuous improvement and continuous learning demeanor within the team and work with the people leader to proactively pursue system and process changes where warranted.

Who you are :

You have:

  • 6+ years of directly related experience in an accounting environment along with a post-secondary degree in finance with an emphasis in accounting

  • The ability to coach and develop team members on routine, non-routine and/or complex assignments while independently leading components, giving direction and reviews of performed work

  • The ability to balance the big picture issues with the detail while independently assessing, exercising sound judgement, and accurately resolving noncomplex issues encountered in the performance of job duties

  • Formal on the job training, coaching and development of team members and can share knowledge, experience, and training with all team members in a non-biased manner

You can:

  • Maintain a sound understanding of Enbridge’s legal entity, line of business (LOB) and operating unit (OU) structure while maintaining working knowledge of regulatory and tax requirements that are supported by our systems and processes

  • Show strong digital literacy and proficiency with in-depth financial software such as Excel along with accounting system/ERP systems such as Oracle and SAP

  • Exhibit boldness and courage to communicate dissenting or unpopular viewpoints in business discussions and drive clarity of understanding of the teams’ perspectives with all levels of the organization

  • Gain an adequate understanding of various commercial agreements that have an impact on capital

  • A superb problem solver with a strong customer service orientation who can identify unusual and omitted items to address complex issues encountered in the performance of job duties.

  • An excellent written and verbal communicator who is clear, concise, and organized in their communications based on the targeted level within the organization but can also be persuasive to influence others

  • Very organized and capable of balancing multiple priorities independently for both yourself and for the team

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
