Job Purpose

Plans, directs and executes all scheduling related functions of the Electric Maintenance and Construction Opex and Capex annual work plans in order to achieve all fiscal year financial targets. Provides direction and guidance to key stakeholders ensuring the progression of the annual work plan is meeting established milestones, as well as customer and regulatory requirements. Provide continuous improvement strategies on resource allocation, regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction and best practices.

Manage the clerical/work support staff and ensure all clerical needs are met for Electric Operations. Assist in establishing strategy to deliver efficient solutions to meet stakeholders needs.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the scheduling related functions and resource coordination activities for short and long term Opex and Capex construction projects including customer work to the appropriate internal and external Distribution Line and Substation work functions in accordance with the annual work plans.

  • Lead, motivate and develop a professional team, prioritize work, promote safe working practices and allocate resources in order to ensure results are delivered in line with expectations and customer/business objectives. Deliver strategies to reduce O&M budget expenses; prioritize and bundle work.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders within the Electric maintenance and Construction area and across the business, to translate business objectives into well-defined requirements with clearly defined business cases in order to support change and innovation within National Grid.

  • Utilize primary data sources and select resource utilization and performance metrics in order to enable analysis of key themes and trends regarding productivity, efficiencies and scope for improvement.

  • Ensure clerical tasks are completed in the expected timeframes and deliver reporting metrics to track and report performance.

  • Coordinate with the resource planning organization to integrate monthly and yearly forecasted work plans with available resource capacities.

  • Monitor and review work undertaken across all programs to ensure appropriate use of materials, tools, equipment or resources and adherence to schedules.

  • Utilize established financial systems to track budgets and highlight variances across programs to manage and control specific cost variables.

  • Research primary data sources and track resource utilization and performance metrics to enable analysis of key themes and trends regarding productivity, efficiencies, unit costs, capital versus expense, and areas for improvement.

  • Manage the day to day relationship and work assignments of both internal resources and contracted service providers (where applicable), including interpretation and application of established contract/service level agreements to ensure efficient and effective work completion.

  • Manage the day to day information and special requests to understand requirements and deliver appropriate solutions, in line with National Grid policies and processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree, plus 3-5 years' experience preferred, or 5-10 years equivalent experience.

  • Previous supervisory experience required

  • Substation experience helpful.

  • Demonstrates the ability to interpret information and analyze relationships among several parts of a problem or situation in order to clearly articulate the findings and anticipates obstacles and thinks ahead about next steps.

  • Requires the ability to think from first principles and demonstrates ability to challenge processes and use knowledge or trends to look at current situations.

Salary: $131,000 - $154,000
