About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [SC00]

Under general directive supervision, works independently or with a group to receive, store, issue, package, and distribute stock, non-stock, and special order materials, parts, and supplies, as required by internal and external customers; schedule and provide delivery services to meet customer requirements and preferences; and, perform locator services to satisfy customer emergency or inadequate lead-time requirements.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Receive materials, supplies, and equipment and accurately report through standing procedures and practices;

  • Proficiently operate PC-based and/or Main Frame programs utilized by FirstEnergy and outside Distributors for materials management, storage, and accounting of available products, parts, and material;

  • Assembles and packages materials necessary to fill system-generated orders and material lists; stages and/or executes delivery to meet customer requirements and schedules;

  • Performs physical inventories in accordance with Company procedures;

  • Operates material handling equipment including forklift trucks, cranes, and pole-handling equipment;

  • Delivers material and equipment to job site locations or designated locations via stake truck, pick up truck, or most practical conveyance;

  • Assembles and dismantles bins, racks, and shelving; makes minor repairs to stores equipment as necessary; and maintains a clean and orderly work area;

  • Operates power tools as necessary to perform the work;

  • Performs necessary reconciliation and clerical duties in accordance with Company procedures;

  • Instructs and trains employees in the work;

  • Works with employees of higher classification and performs other duties in accordance with the section of the Foreword to the Job Manual entitled “Duties”.

Qualifications Include:

  • Must have five (5) years of experience in distribution warehousing;

  • Must have completed the Stores Services training program; an electrical apprenticeship program; or the equivalent;

  • Must have a working knowledge of PC based programs such as Microsoft Office or the equivalent;

  • Must satisfactorily complete all training requirements as prescribed by the Company for the position;

  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of Materials and Logistics Processing Operator;

  • Must be able to work from system-generated documents and main frame based equipment utilized by FirstEnergy, Distributors, and Suppliers for materials management, storage, and accounting of stock material;

  • Must meet all requirements of Federal, State, and local licensing regulations for the operation of equipment and motor vehicles;

  • Must hold a current forklift operator certification.

  • Must have a working knowledge of:

  • Safe practices and methods of handling material, supplies, and equipment;

  • Warehousing practices and procedures used for receiving, storing, issuing, and inventorying stock material;

  • Care and operation of the work equipment and tools used in material handling activities.

  • Inventory, control, and material management concepts and the information system data needed to perform job duties;

  • Practices, principles of operation, and the proper use of work equipment and tools as prescribed by the Company for safety, first aid, fire fighting and prevention.
