National Grid Engineering Manager - Renewables and Clean Energy in Hicksville, New York

_About the Position:_

_Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):_

To lead and develop a multidiscipline group of engineering and design personnel collaborating on new renewable and clean energy technologies like utility solar, wind, battery storage and fuel cells.

Assess opportunities within and outside the LIPA Amended and Restated Power Supply Agreement (A&R PSA) and Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) to meet LOB strategic Plan.

Develop energy projects on existing PPO generating sites and National Grid owned properties.

Develop “repowering” projects to support LIPA Electric Resource Plan.

Evaluate and promote energy projects in all regions of the United States.

Assess partnerships with National Grid and external organizations in support of new renewable and clean energy projects.

Evaluate engineering, construction and operational performance of projects.

Provide Director of Power Engineering recommendations for the development of new renewable and clean energy projects and updates on the status of projects in progress.

Establish effective relationships with National Grid and external partners to promote efficient project proposals, effective contracts and successful new energy initiatives.

Lead internal and external resources in the evaluation, engineering and design of new energy projects.

Develop competencies in the renewable and clean energy technologies and project development.

Develop project designs, proposals, contracts, technical bid evaluations, procurement and installation specifications.

Support environmental, legal and regulatory project drivers and impacts.

Support safety through project planning and commercial terms.

Assure compliance with all required laws, regulations, National Grid policies and procedures.

Support project implementation and construction.

_Knowledge & Experience Required:_

15 years of power generation, energy storage and transmission experience.

Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a minimum of 5 years of experience supervising, managing and developing others.

In depth knowledge of engineering, procurement and construction contracts on energy projects.

Energetic and creative individual capable of recognizing and promoting innovative ideas.

Knowledge of regulations, codes and standards in related areas.

Knowledge in various engineering disciplines like mechanical, electrical, controls and civil.

Ability to build business relationships, understand business priorities and inspire confidence through effective management.

Familiar with project management; planning, scheduling, progress reporting, cost containment and resource optimization.

Strong decision making skills to direct actions in a high-energy, fast moving environment.

Familiar with project financing and modeling.

Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited university.

PE license in the state of New York preferred.

Master’s Degree preferred.

Proficient in the use of computer programs such as Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.

Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and communication skills.

Creative, innovative, adaptable and flexible.

Analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills.

A valid New York State driver’s license.

Establish effective relations with PED managers, PPO directors, PPO support organizations, National Grid Legal, National Grid Environmental and external business partners.

Collaborate and communicate effectively across the organization and with all partners.

Develop relationships with internal and external resources to support projects.

Work effectively with all corporate, business, regulatory, legal and government stakeholders.
