Job Summary

This position oversees the HR functions for PSEG Long Island. The HR Director will serve as a top HR expert and provide guidance, support and advice on a variety of HR disciplines including Client and Labor relations. This individual will serve as a true strategic business partner while working closely with other key leaders and executive management to ensure HR effectiveness and maintain a positive culture while leading and promoting HR initiatives and programs that align with corporate goals and values. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team of PSEG Long Island, this position will act as a conduit for a full range of HR consulting services and problem solving in conjunction with the Centers of Excellence, including labor/employee relations, compensation and benefits, organization design and development, EEO/AA, employee culture and engagement, talent acquisition, performance/talent management, succession planning and workforce analytics. In accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and corporate procedures and guidelines, drives the implementation of the HR strategy in support of short and long-term business goals by building partnerships and alliances throughout the organization and with labor organizations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Translates business strategies and objectives into HR strategic and operational plans. Collaborates with the HR Centers of Excellence (COEs) on the development, implementation and rollout of HR programs and policies. Provides organizational and individual counsel and advice to PSEG Long Island senior leadership. As a strategic partner and advisor, provides coaching, support, and influence to assist client management and leadership in implementing their HR strategies. Collaborates and influences by providing advice and expertise to resolve HR issues that arise; anticipates future needs or concerns; and plans strategic initiatives related to their workforce to drive results.

  • Responsible for implementing labor relations strategy, negotiating contracts, administrating the collective bargaining agreements, counseling regarding discipline, and administrating the grievance and arbitration process including negotiating settlements.

  • Partners with Ethics & Investigations, Compliance and Legal regarding ongoing concerns, investigations and legal disputes and resolutions to achieve optimal results.

  • Oversees PSEGLI HR budget and provide required monthly forecasts, variances and implement any required corrective actions to ensure budget targets are achieved. Prepares and reports on all PSEGLI HR initiatives, scorecards and results. Initiates any required measures to ensure PSEG LI HR metrics are delivered at or above target.

  • Serves as EEO/AA manager for PSEGLI headquarters location. Responsible for all HR related support activities with LIPA rate filing, Management audit and monthly meeting activities.

Job Specific Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 8 years' HR experience as a strategic partner to the executive team, must have 4 years' experience in Client, Labor and Employee Relations and working understanding of talent acquisition, benefits, compensation, organizational development and talent management.

  • Experience in driving, managing and implementing company-wide initiatives as well as experience in building and sustaining relationships with senior line leaders, employees and colleagues.

  • Experience interacting with senior leadership.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with a matrix organization to accomplish goals and delivery of services to client areas.

  • Prior supervisory experience.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including excellent presentation, facilitation and listening skills.

  • Proven ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively across business units, functional departments, geographies and disciplines through clear communication and effective leadership and team skills.

  • Innovative, strategic thinking and planning skills with the ability to create and communicate a vision for the future and translate it into clear strategies and specific priorities.
