Job Summary

Dominion Energy (DE) has an engineering internship opportunity that will provide direct support to Grid Planning & Asset Management organization. The position will manage processes for the electric distribution system of DE’s power delivery.

Responsibilities will include assisting Engineers and Operational Specialists in analyzing customer outage data and developing solutions to drive performance improvements on the delivery system. Support engineering analysis of the power delivery system to aid in the upgrading of existing facilities, expanding existing facilities, or develop new facilities in order to meet present and future power delivery requirements.

Candidates should be accustomed to verifying their results and producing high quality work within a short timeframe. In addition to engineering analyses, some of the assignments may require technical writing, preparing presentations and speaking in front of other employees and leaders.

It will be necessary to periodically work outside and in warehouse facilities to initially learn the role and support the technical staff in troubleshooting problems. This may include attending job site with Construction and Operations personnel to install/replace equipment or witnessing equipment teardowns to determine the root cause of failure.

Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Enrolled in a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET.

  • Students should have a graduation date of Spring 2024 or later .

  • Electrical Engineering major preferred.

  • Must have a 2.5 GPA or greater.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to drive a company vehicle.

  • Introduction to engineering concepts and fundamentals.

  • Personal computer software applications including Microsoft Office.

  • Verbal, written and interpersonal communication; time management and organization; math and technical aptitude.

  • Effectively interact with customers; work in a team; attention to detail; understand and apply work flow process.

  • Physical attributes to perform essential function of the job in the field and during storm trouble - walking, climbing, stooping, bending and prolonged standing.

Education Requirements
