MYR Group BIM (QA/QC) Lead in Henderson, Colorado

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Building Information Modeling (BIM) QA/QC Lead will work closely with the BIM Lead, project estimators and project field foremen/superintendents. The BIM Lead must work hand in hand with the general foreman of the project on a nearly daily basis, and relies on the project manager to provide electrical expertise on minor issues and project direction.

Sturgeon Electric has experience performing projects under Integrated Lean Project Delivery methods, and also offers pre-construction services, in-house pre-fabrication capabilities, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) capabilities.

Essential Functions

  • Attend focus planning meeting with site supervisors and project pursuit meetings with estimators

  • Project Pursuit

  • Review construction drawings and specs to determine required items

  • Start creating feeder schedule; schedule will be modified as newer drawings are received

  • Work with field team to start a list of required equipment/shop drawing submittals

  • Start creating mark-ups of underground systems

  • Work with estimator to review all items; assist estimating with needed quantities

  • Assist in establishing required shop drawings and/or submittal of drawings needed from BIM to be included in BIM time estimates

  • Conduct a Code Review on issued documents; assist in submitting concerns to design team/EOR

  • Project Award

  • Review current specs and drawings for any changes from previously-issued documents

  • Revise feeder schedule per current documents

  • Assist in labor tracking setup for BIM team as it applies to BIM schedule and budget

  • Support turnover process and turnover meeting checklist

  • Assist field in finalizing equipment submittals

  • Revise underground mark-ups for BIM to start modeling

  • Start creating mark-ups for other systems (branch power, lighting, fire alarm, telecom, etc.)

  • Revise required installation list per current drawings

  • Review new content for corrected code questions and review new content for code compliance

  • Assist sub-contractors in developing mark-ups per Sturgeon standards

  • Assist in expediting and simplifying communication from BIM design group to field install groups

  • Coordination

  • Work with BIM team to provide most efficient modeling routes

  • Review 3rd Party models for correct model content

  • Review Navis models to assist with clash resolution

  • Assist in perfecting what content is needed on the installation shop drawings

  • Review field installation drawings before final issuance to field

  • Minimize any redraws once sent to field or creating rework because of missing info on installation drawings

  • Review installation shop drawings from 3rd Party subcontractors and review comments with third party manager

  • Support closeout drawing requirements per contract

  • Prefab

  • Review drawing to identify prefab opportunities for projects

  • Review with project teams on the capability of the in-house Prefab shop and vendor-suppliers

  • Training

  • Train working foremen and potential general foreman on mark-up standards

  • Regular and predictable attendance

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Essential functions of this position are to be performed in a Company-designated office or field location

ABOUT YOU

Qualifications

  • Proven experience creating mark-ups for the BIM team

  • Lead role experience as Foreman or General Foreman preferred; relevant and equivalent construction management experience considered

  • High school diploma or GED is required

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Familiarity with BIM review software tools such as Navisworks

  • Good knowledge of NEC electrical Codes

  • High level of software skills in order to deliver project goals

  • Strong commercial electrical background to understand constructability of electrical systems

  • Above average skill in Bluebeam and computer trends/technology

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills

  • Team player and collaborative attitude

  • Good knowledge of electric construction industry best practices

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary $64,568-$97,190 / year

  • Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
