Job Summary

Dominion Energy’s Jasper Generating Station located in Jasper County near Hilton Head, SC and Savannah, GA seeks a Maintenance Engineer. Jasper Generating Station is a 3X1 combined-cycle plant which generates a total capacity of 875 megawatts of electricity with natural gas as the primary fuel. Facility began commercial operation in 2004.

  • This position is responsible for providing engineering support to the Maintenance Department through management of assigned projects which will include development of work scope, writing specifications, selection of vendors/equipment, coordination of maintenance projects, supervision of contract personnel and interaction with operations and maintenance personnel in the implementation of projects.

  • Projects will involve Heat Recovery Steam Generators, low and high-pressure piping systems/valves, rotating equipment including turbine-generators, cooling towers, foundations, structures and others as required.

  • Previous experience in a power plant or similar environment is highly desired, but not required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Applicants should possess the following:

  • Highly motivated with excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Strong computer skills. Knowledge of or ability to learn the basics of software used for control of industrial processes is a plus. Proficiency in Autodesk or similar engineering drawing software packages a plus.

  • Willing to work in an industrial environment which can be hot, cold, noisy, and dirty.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer focus are essential.

  • The successful candidate willInteract with operations and maintenance personnel within the plant and with individuals from various departments elsewhere in the company.

  • Must be in good physical condition, able to climb stairs and ladders, work in confined spaces and able to qualify to wear a respirator.

  • Must be able to respond to emergency callouts and to work weekends and holidays when needed.

  • Must live or be willing to re-locate to within 50 miles of the plant site.

Basic Qualifications

Engineer II Qualifications:

Must have a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university and minimum of 2 years of engineering experience.

Engineer III Qualifications:

Must have a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited collegeor university and minimum of 4 years of engineering experience.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree from an ABET accredited Engineering Program from a recognized college or university.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

EIT certification may be required in some SBU's.
