Job Summary

The Salem Component Engineer - Vibration Specialist will be responsible for implementing the assigned station predictive maintenance technologies. The engineer will implement Equipment Reliability initiatives, including motivating the correct behaviors to promote results-oriented Equipment Reliability and support Plant Outages. Through periodic monitoring and preventive maintenance programs, the engineer will ensure components health are maintained to prevent failure and in compliance with facility license, company and government regulations. The engineer will also provide recommendations to improve operating and maintenance costs through new maintenance strategies or use of value based or condition based monitoring. This individual has ultimate responsibility to ensure that these components for PSEG Nuclear meet or exceed all regulatory requirements and are achieving / approaching industry best practice.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise in the identification, investigation, and resolution of equipment vibration challenges to ensure plant reliability and availability

  • Act as subject matter expert on vibration diagnostics and dynamic balancing

  • Detect equipment degradation and prevent equipment failures through accurate analysis and timely corrective action

  • Provide equipment condition information to allow for optimizing scope and frequency of time-based preventive maintenance activities

  • Implement new technologies and monitoring strategies to support transitioning to condition-based monitoring (CBM) where possible

  • Lead cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and solve component and complex performance issues

Job Specific Qualifications

Required:

  • BS Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline, with 2 years of engineering experience. (Candidates without a degree but possessing >5 years of commercial nuclear experience may be considered)

  • Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Ability to support shift work during refueling outage, forced outages, and access industrial areas of a nuclear power plant.

  • Ability to gain unescorted access to a nuclear power plant.

  • The candidate will need to demonstrate flexibility with balancing multiple work items with various levels of priority.

  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.

Desired:

  • Degree or experience in mechanical engineering or technology discipline

  • 5+ years of Nuclear Power Plant experience.

  • Familiar with INPO Components Engineering / Equipment Reliability expectations and the ability to drive site improvement to achieve sustained excellent performance (industry top quartile performance)

  • Subject matter expert in vibration program implementation and vibration analysis (certified Level 1 or higher).

  • Previous commercial nuclear plant engineering or RO/SRO license/certification is a plus.

  • Experience with other predictive maintenance technologies and experience with vibration database softwares (RBMWare, Bently Nevada, and SystemOne)
