Nuclear Environmental Coordinator - Senior Environmental Specialist - Principal Environmental Specialist
In this position you will administer, coordinate, oversee, and implement environmental compliance programs and processes for the facility/operating organization in accordance with Federal, State and Local regulatory requirements, as well as Company policies and procedures.
You will focus on the conservation measures, wetland restoration, biological monitoring, and property management activities required by the Salem NJPDES Permit Custom Requirements and commonly referred to as PSEG Nuclear’s Estuary Enhancement Program (EEP). This position will also provide technical support for conduct of the specific biological, engineering, and economic analyses required to satisfy U.S. EPA cooling water intake regulatory requirements (40 CFR Parts 122.21 & 125.90) and for renewal of the Salem NJPDES Permit. You will support other environmental and regulatory compliance activities and issues as may be needed by the Regulatory Operations Department and the Environmental Compliance organizations, ensuring environmental compliance to avoid fines, penalties and other legal liability, as well as damage to the company's reputation. Work activities will include preparation of work scopes, review of bid proposals, directing of field activities, tracking of project expenditures, technical review of project reports, and management of the environmental consulting firms and contractors who implement EEP activities. You will also be required to respond to public inquires and support outreach activities relating to the EEP.
Responsibilities include: conducting data review and analysis, and preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual environmental reports; assisting in in general day-to-day implementation of the Salem NJPDES Permit Custom Requirements and the EEP; providing oversight and directing contractors who provide consulting services in support of EEP; participating in EEP communications and outreach activities to assure regulatory, environmental and public support for PSEG Nuclear and EEP; directing biological monitoring studies, wetland restoration activities, and property -management contractors in accordance with permit requirements, site-specific management plans, and safety procedures; planning, directing, and implementing environmental and construction projects and programs for EEP; serving as the primary interface with environmental regulatory agencies regarding permitting and reporting issues; preparing procedures, reports and correspondence relating to compliance with all applicable environmental regulatory requirements; and overseeing the cost, completeness and quality of environmental activities conducted for PSEG Nuclear.
Required: BS in biological sciences, engineering, or equivalent education and experience (8-10 years); strong technical and project management experience in developing scopes of work; contracting for consulting services; and managing and controlling environmental contractor services; knowledge of environmental regulations, NJDEP Bureau of Land Use Regulation, and USACOE permitting; demonstrated experience in management of biological monitoring studies, wetland restoration activities, and land steward/property management contracts; knowledge of environmental regulatory requirements and effective ability to interact with regulatory agencies on requisite topics; demonstrated ability as team player; self-starter; strong technical writing skills with attention to detail; experience with PowerPoint and all other Microsoft Office products; valid driver's license; ability to meet PSEG Nuclear requirements for unescorted access to PSEG Nuclear facilities.
Desired: MS in biological sciences; marine fisheries experience; coastal wetland restoration and management experience; corporate property management and environmental education experience; experience in conduct of cooling water intake studies and preparation of comprehensive Section 316(b) demonstrations.
This is a multi-level position. Successful candidates will be selected based on evaluated education/experience, etc.
