Job Description Summary:
Distributed Generation Intern
The WM DG Engineering Intern is responsible processing small interconnection applications, Schedule Z net metering applications, communicating with DG applicants, shepherding their applications from submittal to post installation, managing construction and fostering relationships with customers and developers. Positions Eversource as the highest performing providers of electric delivery services, customer focused solutions and interconnection of generation. Provides prompt responses to customers and installers in accordance with the DG Tariff, Net Metering Tariff and Eversource Technical Standards.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Serves as the primary point of contact and transacts all Eversource business with assigned DG customers with a focus on customer service, rate and billing issues, metering and recording strategies. Support the DG Engineering Team where requested and needed, for small generation projects
Manage Approved inverter list
Reviewing UL certifications to add inverters to our list of approved models for reference
Update the excel spreadsheet as new inverters come in
I.3.9 ISO-NE Notification Work includes preparing ISO-NE One Line Diagrams. Create basic electrical diagrams in Power Point of larger generation projects
Prepare draft Special Operating Guidelines (SOGs) includes researching project details and circuit/substation configuration, drafting the SOG using SOG template, project folder, and STORMS
Assist with Net Metering questions and Schedule Z’s
Assist with future SMART Program.
Assist with Net Metering and Interconnection Seminars.
Maintains account contacts and other pertinent information for all assigned customers. Tracks information and timelines on application folders.
Assists DG Interconnections Manager in tracking progress on meeting or exceeding Key Performance Indicators, while actively working toward accomplishing thesegoals.
Gathers information; probes and analyzes customer needs; diagnoses customer service or equipment problems. Arranges for the implementation of customer solutions and follow‑up; provides technical assistance as needed.
Participates in support and monitoring of Company environmental and safety goals and initiatives.
Education and Experience: A minimum of 2 years of college in Engineering field, willingness to work full time during the summer and part time during the school year.
Demonstrates and exhibits ability to work in a multi-task, challenging environment in order to meet requests and expectations of multiple customers and company objectives in a timely fashion.
Strong communication, interpersonal, presentation, negotiation and persuasion skills both verbal and written.
Strong Computer Skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, STORMS and C2 knowledge is required.
Demonstrates and exhibits ability to apply company policies and procedures, technical, environmental, and engineering expertise in the areas of customer relations and energy utilization requirements.
Ability to apply engineering principles in the areas of customer systems and energy-utilization requirements, and experience.
Demonstrates initiative and ability to make decisions based on logical assumptions and factual information to achieve both company and customer satisfaction.
Ability to effectively apply technical and analytical concepts to enhance customer satisfaction while achieving the Eversource goals and objectives.
Demonstrates and maintains ability and understanding of Windows applications and software programs applicable to DG Intern position.
